Fear Allah and have gheerah upon each other it’s not about what society is like now, there’s a level of modesty we should have as Muslim men and women and especially privacy within our marriage. What happens during intimate times and how often should not be exposed or addressed even if it’s for banter or for views. You’re Muslim at the end of the day. Fear Allah. If you had addressed it in a different way fair enough, as in explaining that being parents and being married for so long, it is important to maintain an intimate relationship with one another between husband and wife etc but you just went about it the wrong way. You’re not preachers but having the status of a Muslim requires us to naturally adopt certain attributes to our character and the way we present ourselves to the world
