Congress has absolutely grassroots presence in Tamil Nadu. It is an 'artificial reality.' The people who are giving importance to Congress do not know the history of Congress in Tamil Nadu !!! (All India) Congress up to 1947 (from 1885) was a completely different party. The party before 1947 was not the same as the Congress that was post-1947. Several senior leaders left Congress post-1947. And, then, there came a big earthquake-equivalent in 1969 that struck the post-1947, truncated Congress, throughout India. The Organization Congress (Old Congress or Congress (O)) was only able to survive only. in three states Gujarat (Morarji Desai), Karnataka (Nijalingappa), and Tamil Nadu (under the Great leadership of Shri Kamaraj). In other states, if I am correct, Congress party went into the hands of Congress (India)(Congress (I), the Congress under the leadership of Late Smt Indira Phiroze In the three states that it could not succeed in capturing the organization, Congress (Indira) remained a shadow (except in Karnataka, where Congress (Indira) fought back with Devaraj Urs and started to attain superiority over the Congress (Old). The main reason was Nijalingappa was unpopular because of corruption allegations and Devaraj Urs was from a different backward community (not the usual Karnataka's powerful communities - Lingayats and Vokkaliagas). In Tamil Nadu from 1969 until Shri Kamaraj was alive, that is until 1976, Congress (Indira) could not even dream of having any grassroots. The Sathyamurthy Bhavan was the symbol of Congress (O) and it was a bone of contention much later, which the Congress (I) wanted to take over post-Shri Kamaraj. That did not happen - at least for sometime to come when each and every leader old Congress leader was lured by Indira Congress. Post-Shri Kamaraj, 1976, the legacy of Shri Kamaraj continued with a great struggle until well into 1980, when the Janata Party broke - Bharatiya Jansangh came out and was born new as Bharatiya Janata Party. Several Old Congress leaders from the now defunct Tamil Nadu Janata Party joined BJP. GKM was a towering factor in the Old Congress. He did not join BJP. So were the few other popular leaders. Indira Congress laid the net to attract these leaders. Opportunists C Subramaniam and PC were always did not travel with Congress Old and were eager to get plump posts by aligning with the empty Congress Indira. With GKM joining Congress, the coveted Sathyamurthy Bhavan finally went to the empty Indira Congress. From 1969 (when Indira Congress was carved out throughout India), the Tamil Nadu unit4 of Indira Congress was a zero. It remained a zero , without any grassroot worker until ever after. The die-hard Shri Kamaraj followers never went to the Indira Congress. The Congress in Tamil Nadu today, which is nothing but Indira Congress Tamil Nadu unit, was and always a party without any grassroots workers. In all elections since 1971, it got seats because of the alliance it had with the ruling regional party. The ruling party in Tamil Nadu aligned with Indira Congress since 1971 because for the first time the regional party was able to obtain representation in the Central Government. No sensible (Indirra) Congress leader would ever dare to think that it has any vote share in Tamil Nadu. It has none.

In Chattisgarh it is open news about the power sharing formula and KD Singhdev made a severe fight for it. Ultimately Bagel previled over KD Singhdev due to his connections with high command. BJP's former TN leaders are still in favour of having an alliance with either dmk or Admk because they want power as ministers.
