People from the state- poorer/rural voters especially etc. knew from day 1 who the CM will be. See the results of the CSDS post poll survey & see how many people preferred Siddaramiah as their CM choice-40%. Nobody mentioned DKS, very few. DKS of course worked hard, poured in money and organised the state unit, he's a good organisation man but the voter catcher/mass leader was always Siddaramiah. Many poor I had spoken to, always remembered his schemes especially like Anna Bhagya, Sheera Bhagya & Indira Canteens which the BJP discontinued. Even Siddaramiah knew he was definitely going to be CM, that's why he kept quiet throughout the CM selection process and didn't see him coming & speaking/whining about it to media.
