Really warms my heart to see great actors like Ranveer and Siddhant express their love for Govinda. The man never got his due because critics never appreciate comedy the way they appreciate drama and heavy-duty acting. Filmfare and other awards always preferred to award SRK/Hrithik over Akshay/Govinda. I hope comedy actors get their due one day.

govinda is legend. he has done more than just comedy. i grew up watching all his comedies in the 90s though and found him hilarious. not because bollywood movies back then had good written jokes(quite the opposite) but off of sheer acting and mannerisms alone, id always have a good laugh, especially with his combination with Johnny lever. india appreciates sex comedies only, because most of the audience is sexually repressed.

Never got his due?? He was a superstar. And he even overshadowed Amitabh Bacchan in comic roles. He didn't need to essay various roles because he was so dominating in comedy and it was minting the moolah for him and the producers. Shifting to a different genre would have only impacted his image and would have put his career at risk. Not surprisingly he never made it in the same league as Amitabh or other big stars. But he created his own genre and that's what matters in terms of Bollywood business. So he definitely got his due.

Saw Gully Boy yesterday...and he was incredibly outstanding in the film..from 1st scene when he is DJying and comes and kill the attitude of brash guy ...to that scene when he embraces Murad and gives him the stage ...to the scene where he is ousted in the competition .. I felt he was the real hero of the film ..with swag..attitude..looks to being extremely natural in front of camera (what BIG B liked in his appreciation note) ..his physique in the film ..just unbelievable acting - it’s clear that success is not over his head..he sounds grounded, humble and very creative ..also great to hear that his family is supportive that gave him strength and confidence ..way to go MC SHER ..
