I'm an older guy ( 57 ) and I'm not great but love the sport. I have got better and stayed safe by protecting myself through better technique . This is why I watch this channel because at my age I'm not going to beat the world . But.... I can still give a good account of myself because of the way I train ! If you want to actually learn and gain knowledge watch this channel ! What you do with the knowledge is up to you. I have genuinely improved through improved technique . THANK YOU TIM !!! 💪💪💪

I'm in the same boat 57 and loving it I train back pressure and hand mainly, to control and put fatigue in my opponents arm, so the necessary side pressure is very low, or transition to the press!

Just found this channel. I've been armwrestling for about 4 years. We've got our own club, i train table 1 x a week and i compete. But I've only recently come to the same conclusion that lats, chest and brachialis (even In a hook) are everything for keeping tight so you can drive to the side. The way I hook atm i also use a lot of triceps, but i think thats because i've had to make up for my chest and brachialis weakness (my lats aren't too bad). You've basically confirmed what I've spent nearly 4 years figuring out. It's great to have someone else say it. Great vids and the way you explain things is easy to understand . Awesome stuff . Cheers Wish I'd found you 4 years ago , but back then I probably wouldn't have listened 🤷‍♂️👍

When i was new to the sport i stumble upon uncle todds channel and train exclusively side pressure. And oh my! I suffered from chronic elbow pain.. my elbows hurt for a few months until i change my training routine and now im doing well.

A lot of people forget that most of the ‘side pressure’ experts on KZbin also have tremendously strong hands and wrists. They actually don’t need to apply that much force sideways because they’ve completely neutralised the opponents access to power

This was an important distinction to make; ulnar adduction strength and integrity versus using your rotators to internally rotate. Proper sidepressure used in armwrestling results from moving sidways across the pad keeping the arm pinned to one's side, and having the lat stability and chest strength to not separate. There is an element of inner elbow stability needed to not leave the hand behind though, right? What creates that?
@armwrestlingsecrets
@armwrestlingsecrets 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks brother!! The elbow stability you’re talking about just comes from strengthening ALL of the muscles governing elbow stability including- Pronator, supinator, brachialis, brachioradialus, biceps, triceps, wrist flexors, ulnar flexors, radial flexors, wrist extensors and fingers. It’s not just one muscle. It’s every muscle and tendon around the very complex elbow joint even including your fingers and hands actually. Even the muscles that lift and pull down your fingers are attached and anchored at the elbow. Honestly, years of training and weight lifting for arm wrestling leads to elbow stability when arm wrestling. There’s no way to fast track that. I’ve tried!! Best of luck with your arm wrestling in the future brother! 💥💪💥💪

I am personaly on Todd HUTCHINGS trainning program since 1 year and a half. But yes side pressure trainning with table time is too much. yes it does help building great side pressure. My game level up since iv started this program. But hand especialy pronation is the name of the game. Side pressure without pronation is useless
@Average1212
@Average1212 2 жыл бұрын
Cupping, rising, pronation. Devon, Mike, Travis, John, the list goes on. They all say over and over again in seminars that training these 3 strengths are the most important. For Strap armwrestling add even more backpressure.

Hello, I am new to your channel and I like it very much! You often say you do not train side pressure at all and you do not use it in matches, but I have a problem. I have very weak side pressure and can not pin anyone even if I am in winning position, I just feel like there is nothing. Also I tried that rolling handle with pulley system and I could cup it quiet easily but I could not pin it at all. I also tried side pressure machine and I feel a lot of pressure in the beginning of triceps on the insideof the elbow, It seems like I have weak triceps. Could you possibly explain how much is triceps involved in side pressure or inside armwrestling and how to train it for armwrestling? I feel like triceps is very neglected in armwrestling comunity.

Hi Thanatos. Thanks for the question. Watch my video from a few weeks ago called ‘Best Exercises for Press Strength’. That goes over my favorite triceps exercises for arm wrestling but also how the triceps are involved with arm wrestling.

He didn't mention you have to go to the side to win hahahahahaha, everything else he said is correct, it's a combination of side pressure with back pressure plus keeping your ready go position as strong as possible with cupping as strong as possible too just to keep your hand from toprollers.
@Tasmanaut
@Tasmanaut 2 жыл бұрын
you don't have to go to the side, actually. If you can dominate centre long enough, they will give up.
@Tasmanaut
@Tasmanaut 2 жыл бұрын
and any movement to the side is not through internal rotation, but sinking of the entire body sideways. The only side pressure you need is enough to keep your elbow in tight, exactly as he explains, and it comes mainly from the lats
@fasieh7331
@fasieh7331 5 ай бұрын
@@Tasmanaut that's completely wrong though. you can't sink your body to the side and pin someone WITHOUT your arm following through. In order to arm and shoudler in line as you pin your opponent you NEED side pressure strength. It doesn't matter how strong your lats are and how tight you keep your elbow if your side pressure is weak and your arm can't follow your body
