Great video! Its always that much more entertaining when the maker gives something from his personal approach and does not just try to imitate someone famous. Then there are many things that are the matter of taste: for example I would prefer videos without music. Also regarding the design, I might have considered some stain, whitewash or other treatment to mitigate the knots in the legs, but this is certainly just fine, as knot are really part of the wood. Q: Has the seams between the endgrain of the pine top and hardwood strips stayed tight over time?

Infillion I Thank you for watching and posting an obviously thoughtful comment. I prefer music to videos as I’m uncomfortable doing voiceovers and did not want the CCTV silence accompanying the video, but I do have to admit my music choice was poor with hindsight. With regards to the build I like knots, blemishes and scars within materials and often celebrate them, I also wanted to demonstrate that something beautiful can be made with good materials that were thrown away with such disdain. The final colour choice was made by the purchaser and all is still super tight within the joints, my client is delighted! Thank you for the positivity and feedback!

Yes, I agree that mere silence is not that good either, and the simple machine / tool sounds might be disturbing if loud or with lots of echo. Also it must indeed be tricky to find proper music with appropriate licences. From audio perspective my favourite diy channels would maybe be This Old Tony (for very pleasant, superfunny voiceover and consciously terrible music) and Jeremy Schmidt (for his perfection with screenplay and rhythm). Then there are channels like Ishitani furninture that rely on well recorded work sounds contrasted with silence or soothing 'unrelated 'sound scenes, that underline the puristic approach of his work and still magically create a personal contact with the audience. Surely you will find the best way that fits your channel. I am also a big fan of such recycling projects; I actually like the way the 'limited' materials affect the design process. Designing might then be more complicated when you are working for a customer.

What a find! What a beautiful table! Love it! One question about the Power Record Bandsaw you used, is it any good? I heard that a few of there products were not as good as others on the market and my father-in-law is thinking of getting a bandsaw

HippoandBear Makes Thank you! To be fair I’ve found the bandsaw fine, if you know how to set up the guide rollers and tension the blade then it’s not been bad at all and produces good straight cuts. With hindsight and a bigger budget I would prefer a larger size one.

My question is not what tooth blade do you have in your bandsaw or why do you use tightbond or even what make is your table saw.. No my question is.. How much did it hurt when you hit your fingers that hard your nails went black! OUCCHHH ha ha ha

The Riggs wood workshop Let me say this, I invented new swear words that would disgust sailors and invoke evil spirits if said again. I crushed my fingers fabricating a set of metal car park gates for a client, that was nearly three months ago and they are still bad! My harpsichord recitals will never be the same. Hope you enjoyed the vid though!
