You saved a lot of time prying the old switch out. If your trunk or gas door switch ever stops working, I'll share my experience with mine. Instead of replacing I took it out and soaked it with a small aerosol can of electrical contacts cleaner. It just had some gunk buildup that caused it to malfunction. Once cleaned and reinstalled it has worked perfectly.

Hmmmm not quite sure what you are asking. That noise/beeping noise was due to the light switch turned on and key in the ignition.
