I love when you switch gears with the "in this video! " phrase at the beginning, once you set up the context for the clip :-D it wakes you up and forces you to straighten up and embrace what is about to come! Great work, Hussein, keep it going! You are an inspiration.

Today morning i was in a meeting with my Director , Staff Engineer and Engineering Manager . Generally they discuss topics which go over my head . ( I am 1.5 years experience Dev ) . I just watched this video today morning . And I understood a lot of things they were talking about . I was so happy , the feeling was immense that i could understand their jargon . They were mainly talking about grpc support by our current ISTIO proxy and reverse proxy or not :) . Thanks a ton Sir

You're explanation of the "what" is great, really great! The "why" for the sidecar proxy is described in the NIST SP 800-190 Application Container Security, primarily for security between containerized applications that don't have security agents or W3C compliant API firewalls between them. Before nation-states were involved with cyber hacking it was mostly just disgruntled or laid-off software testers/debuggers since they are the first cuts and don't add new features or differentiators to apps/products, but now it's nation-states, organized crime, and hacktivists (bored or political) that make it much more difficult to have app-to-app or app-server communications not get compromised. Most developers in my experience loath security, the sidecar proxy pattern helps them go back to loathing it and pushes the work of protocol security into the SRE/DEVOPS Engineers who love to manage logs and troubleshoot the environment.

Awesome video Hussain. Can you make video on envoy Front proxy with 2 microservices and each service have its own sidecar. How the traffic works in this situation and how much it will complex.

Best part of my day. Thank you for your quality videos. Can you also make a video about Hexagonal architecture?
@hnasr4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ali 🙏 hmm never heard of the hexagonal architecture need to research

Hussein Nasser I think hexagonal architecture goes well with DDD (Domain Driven Design), CQRS and Event sourcing. These are interesting concepts to me and a video about these would be very valuable I think

It seems like this pattern is suitable for desktop client applications or where a service to service request, but is there an alternative for browser based clients or mobile apps?

Pretty neat video as per usual, Mate, i've got a question. When you usually host your website using a service (Aws i.e..) aren't things like proxy'ing, load balancing and so on and so forth being taken care of automatically?
@hnasr4 жыл бұрын
Skia that is true! AWS takes care of most of that stuff for you assuming you pay 💰 the money. I am not expert in cloud services but each provider does it differently.

@@hnasr Isn't the difference that this is happening inside containers? Maybe it just looks like that to me because I am researching envoy.

terrible explanation. if you didn't yet waste 26 minutes of your life trying to figure out better a concept of the sidecar, don't do it here for sure.
