Mark I appreciate the reminder that the two fouls are separate and can’t be combined to determine disqualification. Great job.

I really enjoyed your video. I think HL has the most difficult time trying to control the Sideline and Chain Crew. Next video you should give some advice on why it is important to keep Sideline clear on the Chains side of the field. It is recommnded that the Chains be 2 yards off of the Sideline. Lots of guys are working with the chains on the Sideline.

I enjoyed the video. I am an official in Virginia where we follow the NFHS rule book. 9-8-3 is the restricted area rule. You stated at time stamp 13:05 in the video that the third restricted zone violation would be an unsportsmanlike call against the head coach. This penalty does not exist in the rule book. The book states that after the second violation the next and all subsequent violations are 15 yards. It says nothing about UNS on the coach or any other bench personnel. Is this a local rule your association is adopting?

Alex it's an excellent question and one I researched a lot. It's not specific in the rulebook which in my opinion is an oversight by the NFHS . But it is specific in the casebook , which of course is a clarification of the rulebook. So no this is not a local rule it is a national rule it's just kind of buried in the casebook. Here's what the casebook says : 9.8.3 SITUATION A: In the first period, Team A is warned and then later penalized 5 yards for sideline interference for having more than three coaches or for having noncoaches in the restricted area between the sideline and the team box. The same infraction occurs again in the third period and again in the fourth period. How are these situations penalized? RULING: The third and fourth infractions are both 15-yard penalties. Since the head coach is responsible for the team box, the fouls are all charged to the head coach. The second penalty for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike foul results in the disqualification of the head coach.
