One thing they don't always, still rarely today, make clear is the difference between things like roles and modifiers. You have the roles with the crewmate, imposter, and neutral character - they get roles that are only for those types. Only an imposter will get an imposter role for example. But there are modifiers you can turn on. Many of these can apply to anyone. So with the flash, chameleon, giant and others any person with any role could also have their character randomly chosen and modified with a new ability (or hindrance like with the giant). It's been a while I can't remember if there are some modifiers that will only apply to certain roles, there might be but the idea is still the same.

Shifter and sunglasses are Crew only Modifiers, but all others(i believe, i could be forgetting one) can be any team.
