It provides a win-win situation where the Sidemen and the friends who show up both benefit on a video like increased viewership or more directed traffic to the youtuber's channel. But you can't have that by not putting in links for said creator's channel. And also, you can't assume everyone knows who are these guests the Sidemen bring on. Maybe it's an unpopular opinion here, since I really like them (and I also like Jack, I am not a hater lol) but most people who watch their content really like them because of their old school British banter.Jacks videos are transformative in the sense it adds to the original video, like it keeps the essence of it. I feel like sidemen video are transformative too, but in the opposite direction. Rather than actually being about the video, their reactions normally are just comments and bantering with each other. It does not at all preserve the essence of the content, as the essence isn't the original video, it's their banter specifically. I don't watch their react content now tho, watched them for first 1 or 2 years when the channel was made. Back them I remember they not even starting reacting till like the 3 or 4 minute mark, and just roasting the hell out of each other and I liked them..
@level1865Ай бұрын
But I would agree that them not giving links is a problem and it extends to their other channels too. They regularly collab with other creators in their videos and you rarely see any links for those people's channels under their video. They recently did a pub quiz video on their main channel and there was a guy whom I really liked. But his channel was not linked, they were using his real name which made it hard to search from the video,too. And also outro music lol. One of their very good mates randy made a song, and I assume, with his permission, they made a edit of his song into one of their merchandise promo outro and goddamn was it hard to find that song. Now I haven't heard the song in years so I really can say its name if any one asks me.

Gonna be honest, I don't understand how you expect them to react to a 3-10 second TikTok video. There truly isn't much you can do beyond just a small passing comment or a chuckle. The Sidemen themselves have said before they don't like reacting to TikTok videos and much prefer reacting to other longform stuff because it's easier to talk about and watch but the fans want the TikToks so they do it. Aside from that, it does feel like the video was a *little* cherrypicked but it could just be pure chance since I reckon a good 60% now are just TikTok reactions. I can admit any of the ones where they watch TikTok they don't add particularly much, but the non TikTok videos are some pretty good reaction content ignoring the fact they don't give any credit. Take the most recent video (as of this comment) for example, they know the content and it's not ultra-shortform so they can provide meaningful commentary.

Not knowing about the sidemen (and already having a presumed negative prejudice towards them) and going straight to the reacts channel is 10 times out of 10 going to make you think that the sidemen are the worst content creators on the planet. The sidemen themselves know how bad the reacts channel is, and they make jokes about it constantly. They have said multiple times that its completely braindead, and its only for making money/engagement. Several times in videos they have broken down laughing because its so bad. For people who like british humor, and the self-awareness that it brings, then the sidemen are some of the funniest and realest content creators out there. Jacksfilms analysis in this video is interesting and correct in how it critiques react content, but Jacksfilms would have to have actually watched sidemen content to be able to comment on them as individuals. The constant "flexes" for example, come across very differently to someone who watches their content. IMO they are probably some of the least arrogant creators out there (maybe excluding KSI), and definitely the most wholesome youtube group on the platform.

Their content can be enjoyed for everyone but they dont expect every video to be right for someone, thats why they rotate styles of videos and have different channels. Its a mix of fun for them and entertainment for us which although sidemen reacts isnt as high quality as other reacts channels they are entertaining if you know the sidemen and just watch it for a little bit of fun

They are giving what the audience wants, many people here in the comments have stated that its something to put in the background while you do something, we don't want a video essay, every day mind you, on a niche video of off Tiktok. Although when it comes to crediting the videos I will have to agree with you, the Sidemen have stopped linking videos since a couple years ago and I accredit that to a transition from reacting to long form videos to video compilations that are known to perform well for reaction type channels. The audience IS self-aware of this and the community here on KZbin, Reddit, and Twitter are vocal about wanting them to returning to their older style of reacting to content.

I couldn't give two cents about them crediting the original creators of the videos. For what? Nobody is gonna click those link or even go into the description. It's just a slopfest when you add too many steps to light entertainment. It's not like content choose the people that should be watching them, it's the people who choose the content they like. Don't add unnatural things into things that come naturally. If someone is mad enough that they are not credited they will heckle about that anyways. You don’t always need to say something, sometimes you can relax, enjoy and laugh to some funny content with your mates. Which is what the channel is about. They have so many projects going on, like always putting out big project content every Sunday. They, much like the viewer, can on their spare time sit back and enjoy some funny content for 15 minutes together. Is that so bad? After watching this group for 10 years it’s more than enough. The reaction videos is a place where the viewer can kind off hangout with the sidemen, laugh and have a good time. There is no room for complex discussions when you just want to watch some banter. There is other creator’s that do greater work at having complex discussions like ItalianBach and ArthurFrederickTV. Their Podcast and reaction content is top class and I love watching and listening to them. As I’ve said before, sometimes you just want to relax and laugh with the people that you watched through your entire childhood.

as a sidemen watcher i agree, they themselves joke about some of the members not wanting to react or just sacking it off. i don't watch their reacts because they are quite lackluster but it wasn't always like that. When they first made the channel the first couple of reacts were amazing mostly because they weren't only reacting to overdone tiktoks but also informative videos. making it funnier were their jokes, sarcastic dry humor, the inside jokes and the funniest the occasional insults as a form of comedy (to each other) it was fun. I think most of it has to do with the fact that these tiktoks are funny but you can't really react to them other than the occasional laugh, like try reacting to a tiktok on your fyp you will laugh and scroll down that is it. For example doctors can react to medical injuries on shows and give their professional advice and it is informative even if not the funniest. I truly believe they should either react to their own content and tell bts stories or other stuff.

Yeah, this video really makes me cringe; it sort of feels like Jack is treating them like brand new American content farms that sort of erupted with the wake of Mrbeast like content when, in reality, they come from much more humble origins from the days where youtube was really just a site for posting funny and interesting videos for no monetary value. This is like comparing a franchise team in the States to a football club in England. Sure, nowadays, they do a lot (for themselves) to generate wealth, but you gotta realize they have had to modernize or move on like all other forms of entertainment. I don't even gotta explain what moving on implies... but also, the fact Jack just kinda brushes off the sidemen really goes to show how out of touch he is with another part of youtube; these guys have their prints all over youtube culture from Ksi's pubes being in the filthy frank human cake to the boys themselves influencing so many other content groups past and present I hate to be a kissass or a "glazer," but these guys are YT hall of famers, like jack for example. At the end of the day, I can't blame jacksfilms for not knowing everything and anything about these guys because that would probably be like watching YIAY 10 times over, but it honestly surprises me how long Jack has been around KZbin (and the internet) not to know who and what these guys are, hell all it takes is a quick youtube to find the sidemen documentary (from Netflix) here on youtube or the outdated video from SunnyV2. It really goes to show that in another timeline, if the Sidemen were actually an American group of KZbinrs, they would be twice as popular and influential.

See I don’t agree with this completely, it’s a reaction channel not a commentary channel, they are reacting to videos in a very real manner unlike a lot of creators that fake their reactions, they never claimed to be a commentary channel, I enjoy watching their react content, it’s an easy watch where I don’t have to pay attention to every detail and people breaking down the videos, you can just laugh along with them at the things they are watching. I think there is a big differences between reaction content and commentary content and a lot of people mix them both together but I don’t feel like that’s necessarily needed for all reaction content, it also depends on who’s on the channel, not all the boys enjoy doing the reaction stuff as much but you definitely chose a bad video also as one of these guys isn’t even in the sidemen and is just a guest, while I do agree with the part about them not showing credits to the original creators I do believe alot of your other comments are very unnecessary, this is also just another American who doesn’t understand a lot of British sarcasm and poorly researched before making a video about them, this video reeks of trying to get attention off their name. And if you’re gonna make the argument that they commentating wrong, it’s a weak argument if you don’t explain how they could do it better. I don’t care for the sidemen but it’s obvious that Jack is coming into this video already not liking them and looking for bad points. Also the whole point about them making a lot of money is weird to me when Jack is a very successful KZbinr you also make a lot of money. And when they called themselves out for being unreliable, he then made a point about why are you making a video about relatable tick-tock if you don’t relate to them. How are they supposed to win? used to really enjoy Jack’s videos breaking down peoples reactions but I feel like himself he is also gotten lazy with it and is coming across quite bitter about people. This is biased, but as a long time Sidemen watcher, the reason why these React videos popoff is because of the community. Though, for these specific videos like jack showed, yes, these are a little shit. Sidemen in the past was a pretty small group compared to now so they did a lot of videos just doing random stuff and just talking. I think a lot of us really like watching these reacts because it is a different way to see how they view different things, kinda like a breath of fresh air from their usual big projects/main channel videos. And while some reacts are cop-outs, a lot of them are pretty funny or sometimes even interesting to watch while you're eating food or smth. Also, the members themselves acknowledge they don't do anything much in that channel. They've even joked about it multiple times.

I would like to nominate Marco Meatball, a former opera singer turned Music React Channel, as an example of how to do a proper reaction. It's wonderful to see someone be able to guess like 90% of the entire context of whatever the music track is from just from how it is composed, which makes you appreciate the musical talents of the composers and musicians who made the tracks in the first place. Marco gives me a deeper appreciation for tracks I already love, as well as introducing me to tracks and games I might otherwise have never given a chance. Highly recommend.

I appreciate the work Jacksfilms has done in raising awareness of vapid , clout-hungry KZbinrs that steal content and make millions barely reacting. And there are some points to be made about the lack of credit to original creators in these Sidemen reacts videos. But the irony is that Jack is doing the same thing he's calling out - he's uttering the same few comments over and over while gorging himself on another channel's content... Without linking their video in his description. The patronising tone and eagerness to label the Sidemen as snobs/ wealthy elites... It's just not a strong one this time.
@moomoomamooАй бұрын
I agree with this to a point. It's clear where this content came from 3:46. If I wanted to see more of the sidemen's videos, I can easily do so. So with that, there's no reason to add a link in the description. The point of calling out "there's not even a link to the video or description," is that these reaction videos don't provide a way to see the original video. That being said, it is interesting that this is kind of like a loop pool on how to run a react tictok video on your own channel. As long as the video you're reviewing does the crime, you're in the clear I guess

I'm sorry but the people coming in to defend the overarching reaction content these guys make is appalling. If there isn't enough in these memes to react to much because they're short, WHY ARE THEY REACTING TO THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. You can criticize the man for keeping up this same kind of video criticizing different people but the point is that things are yet to change, these videos need to keep coming, we need to talk about it more. Nobody in this comment section understands Jack. Although, yes, I agree that it is a little outlandish to expect people to add transformative commentary to a 10 second TikTok, the whole point of JJJacksfilms is that the reactors don’t get permission nor do they credit the creators of the content they’re watching. Just because people think that it’s difficult to add good commentary to a TikTok doesn’t take away the fact that the reactors shouldn’t be reuploading that TikTok in the first place.

I think this is such a lazy take, and its wild given the fact you sat here and also... added nothing... SidemenReacts however, is an easy watch (sometimes cringe though, I wont deny that) and minimal editing, and thats the entire goal of the channel. Your entire career was built on the backbone of YIAY where you just repeated the same content video after video, over 600 times mind you, and nothing changed. Not to mention your obsession with sniper wolf. I think the ONLY good point you made throughout this 25 minute video was the fact they dont credit the original source of the videos... which you also havent done. ArthurTV also isnt even a member of the Sidemen and has a lot quieter online personality in comparison to the other guys in the video, so to sit there criticisising him when hes just a guest is a bit of an L and shows you did 0 research.
