What Simon was saying about being somewhat understanding and compassionate to people cause you never know what they're going through, I feel like for years watching random stuff like this I've seen a distinct lack of this understanding with people in general in comments and twitter and stuff, and even real life, people just judge and persecute without showing any ounce of consideration for others points of views, I find it baffling how so many people miss this, even proper smart people

I usually feel really bad when the videos go viral for people who clearly have like a mental disorder and might have been through a breakdown or an episode and its almost out of their control. Dont get me wrong, its still not an excuse for people to be horrible, but i hate the mockery that comes with making the video go viral when its someone that is not in their right mind.

​@@dianampm99 Exactly me too, there's been so many I seen where it clear that person is not okay. I've always taken the view point that if someone really is behaving in a shitty way, unless they're just categorically bad people or sociopathic or whatever, there is usually a reason for it, and usually it's to do with that person essentially projecting and crying out for help. I think people who suffer inevitably become bitter. Some of the Karen videos it almost feels like a comedy sketch, like some young lad in his 20s recording and somewhat mocking the Karen but they're actually kinda chill, still somewhat laughing at the Karen, but still interacting with them. You can see their faces and it's almost like they acted that way just so someone would finally pay some attention to them, like just the very fact someone is talking to them is comforting and the only way they could think of obtaining that is by harassing or whatever, idk hard to explain, but I'd imagine a lot of these people are really broken lonely people in situations where they're desperate for some kind of connection and they just don't find the will or means to obtain it in their lives, it's just so fucking sad and I feel that way because for sure I've seen my life go that way at times, I've acted out on people when I was younger and primarily before I became self aware, and since I became self aware, all I see is sad lonely people projecting their shit into the world everywhere I go, a generation of Eleanor Rigbys

I mean yeah sure ofcourse we don’t know what a person is going through at any moment and it might explain their actions certainly but it doesn’t justify it taking out your frustrations on random strangers by being a dick to them still deserves to be called out regardless of what you were going through that’s not anyone else’s responsibility. In my case, I have seen in my family how people with certain conditions (schizofrenia being one), could really go from being okay to completely exploding and not really meaning to say the things they do. I can see how it could E if, for easy it could be, for example, if as you said, the person is alone or has no other way to communicate to people, are bitter, they dont have a family that cares about them, etc. You just never know, there are so many possibilities. I just think recording it and making the situation worse by like laughing at the person or calling them a Karen and mocking it, makes you an even worse person in some cases.

Occasionally, the person filming cuts the actual reason why the "Karen" got mad, since that context might justify them for being angry. On another note, people do anything to get their 5 minutes of fame online. If Karen videos are popular, they purposely antagonize people who look like Karens, and film them if they get mad. Similar to when animal rescue videos were popular, people purposely put animals in danger to film themselves "saving" them. Best not to assume things until you hear both sides of the story.
