Mario Party 9 is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. I remember begging for this game on my birthday when I was little, and I was the happiest kid when they got it for me. I ended up having a ton of fun with my friends and family, and still do to this day.

I agree. MP9 is really fun. The minigames are top tier and while the cart gameplay isn't as good as the normal gameplay, I found it to be quite fun since the boards made things enjoyable. MP10 is where things were bad, not 9. Somehow Nintendo made the cart gameplay worse.

THANK YOU, finally, people are starting to get it! MP10 is the actual trash Mario Party, not MP9, that game is fire! It still has a lot of charm and fun ideas, even tho the old Mario Party where you can all move freely is more fun, there's nothing wrong with being in a car, people way overreacted back then lol. I grew up with MPDS and MP9 and I had a LOT of fun with both, despite them being so different! MP10 on the other hand, is soulless, bland, uninspired, and don't get me started on Amiibo Party... I have no idea how they got away with that 😭 But yeah, that game deserves the hate that MP9 gets (or at least, used to get) Although the minigames are still fun, and the Bowser Party thing was a cool idea XD

The idea was cool, but it was so unbalanced that if a competent human was playing Bowser, you could beat four players in two-ish minigames. Minigames which happens almost every turn since Bowser is allowed to re-roll a bajillion times.

A cool thing about the bosses is that the mini boss and final boss of each map are similarly themed. Thwomp and King Bobomb are both about guessing what others will choose, Dry bones and King boo are puzzle games and Spike and Chain chomp are about choosing the best option quickly.

Mario Party 8 & 9 are the two Mario Parties I’ve played the most. My feeling for them was that 8 has the better boards but 9 has the better minigames. I hope they try some of the minigame games in 9, especially Choice Challenge. They take advantage of the great minigames in 9.

The hugest flaw of this game is that this game doesn’t understand that it’s competitive. All the players are supposed to be in a car meaning everyone goes to the same spot as everyone else making the game feel less competitive. I wouldn’t say it feels teamwork based but it just doesn’t work the best

i am Danny, not Kai - but it was big brain logic because I wasn't just aiming for a 3. I wanted either a 3 or a 4 (dash space so I could keep rolling and possibly get more mini stars). If I rolled the 1-3 dice block, I would have a 1/3 shot at the space, but make the dash space unreachable. I used the normal dice block because even though it was still a 1/3 shot to get what I needed (simplified from 2/6 odds), I had the potential to get either the lucky space or the dash space Logic.

I grew up LOVING Mario Party 9, so I have a special place of my heart for this game, people seem to under rate this game way to much, because of the change of style, and in no way shape or from is this game bad, I think it’s my favorite in the series, the song list, mini games, bosses, visuals, and the gimmicks are so fun. I just Love everything about this game. So I have a soft spot in my heart for it. I do understand why people dislike it compared to the GameCube games.

Yes the minigames are AMAZING especially the mind ones like fighting the boss Thwomp picking 1 or 0, that card game where you try to save you bigger cards to win, the mansion doors game, etc, etc. Edit: The King Bomb-omb final battle you guys got was perfect, more mind games lol I need to play Marioparty 9 again. Also the Wii Party / Wii Party U minigames look good as well.

I've spent so much time on this game that I know for a fact that there is no real luck. If you know what you're doing you can: Get any roll, any turn. Stop every spinner right where you want it. Win every "luck-based" Minigame with a bit of memory. And much more. I don't know 10 too well, but I have played it enough to confirm that luck is a lie there too.

Yes the Music, Minigames and Side mods are top Tier. In my opinion it has maybe the best Set of minigames of the whole franchise.

@@jonasm.8128 I'd wager it has by far the most appealing menu and ui design out of A LOT of Mario games, not JUST the Mario Party series. The starry aesthetic is exorbitantly pleasing, and the detail in each and every selection is magnificent! DO I DARE EVEN MENTION THE SOUND DESIGN???

I played mario party 9 as my first game as a kid so i have a soft spot for it The board play is a bit strange compared to the previous titles, but the minigames are fun and the music slaps I have so much information saved to memory that nobody would ever need

9 isnt bad, the issue is how short the boards are. I wish there was a way to inceease the board sixe. That would be cool. (Minigames are the bomb and bosses were amazing)

Only thing that this game got going for is, the Minigames, Music and Artwork that reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 but very colourful, forget the carts and the boards, only board I liked was Toad Road because of the music, Compared to Mario Party 1-8 and DS before.

i feel like the main reason for the hate for mario party 9 is how the boards work, or in this case everyone grouping together and moving at the same time, honestly though, i have play mario party 9 a lot and i enjoy it a lot because of the minigames alone
