Wow this statue looks great now😀I really loved the sculpt but the factory paint was terrible as you mentioned. I so love the addition of Superman cape with a professional quality paint job, it's so impressive. The base tells a story, totally looks bad ass and honestly makes me consider picking one up, as yours proves a repaint can make this a worthy statue.

I love this piece, this is the perfect looking Darkseid in the market. I will never let this go. Amazing repaint. Btw LOVE the Snyder cut, these a-holes teased us with an amazing DARKSEID. DC better bring him back to the big screen. Same with Silver surfer/Galactus

Incredible custom work and it's a breathtaking piece now! I'm tempted to pick it up and one day have someone paint it, but I can't in my right mind buy this and give Sideshow my money for the awful job they did on it. Again that paint job is a night and day change - something you'll see on DIY SOS. One little touch I would do, is regarding your superman cape: I'd add wire to the cape so it was a bit more poseable, outside of Darkseid's hand. Finally maybe some dry brushing with black on the areas that the cape has been burnt on, just so it stands out a bit more that it has been burnt. My Mrs said "fuck, did they only base coat it!" when she saw the side by sides (she's a keeper lol).

Really nicely done guys. May be we should start treating SS pieces as gk from now on? Actually, I hold off buying from SS since last year. Yes, I can custom myself, but I am not buying a 1:5 Marvel Legends, expect to custom it because it is "just" 800 usd.

I think its fair to say after 2021 that sideshow is not top 3 or maybe even one of the top 5 statue companies operating in the world! I would easily put prime1, xm Studios, Ironstudios, queenstudios and even tweeterhead in front of them now! I feel the trend will continue sadly with others going ahead of them. As long as they see quality as a secondary factor to mass produced averageness pieces!

An this is called a Maquette. When it's not complex and the paint detail from the factory wasn't even B+. Looks great now. But having to put money into a statue now in 2022 when statues are more expensive, shipping cost is more expensive, and we have to pay tax is kinda crazy.

It's a lined cape but it's ripped, burned and damaged per my request. Its the same custom cape that goes on the 1:4 statue

Great review. This paint job really makes sideshow look like some real shit bags. Wish I had a professional painter close to me that can do work like that. I'm think of getting my ss cable repainted, the colors are all dull in my opinion.
