Awesome stuff! Didn't expect to see Citadel washes but the biggest surprise to me was the dusting with pastels. I'm curious why use the pastels rather than airbrushing a bright coloured paint?

Hey Scott, I love the Citadel washes, they work really well, we use them often in-house. The pastels was an old trick that I hadn't done in while and I felt it would work nicely on this piece. Airbrush works great too!

Hi chocotastic1, our artists use large spray booths that immediately ventilate out all chemical's sprayed into it. They also have proper ventilation at each of their desks. Thanks so much for the concern!

What does clear coating the model do prior to base-coating it? I mean, what is the reason for doing this? I never understood why you clear coat after some wash to put on more wash? I would love some insight to this technique. Thanks

It is. And the store page for this statue doesn't do it any justice. I went from a 3-4 level of excitement to a 9-10 while watching this video. To be able to see the statue more intimately is something else!

Yea, I used to work for Gentle Giant as a painter and same thing with all of the companies. We do a couple key ones to send overseas that they use as examples but can't come anywhere close to what we would do. On top of that, they use ours as show pieces at Conventions and box art, so that is what you see, and think you are getting.

@@Professor_Professoron Yes. Typically 2 are done in house by artists, as "Keys or prototypes" to send over seas and they are painted there. By people, who are not near as talented, in color mixing, matching, or any paint techniques. They could not re produce what we did on their best day. But we would cost way more and the items would be way more. Un affordable for most. For people that want better, they get repainted by professionals, at the level of the people who painted the Key prototype. Pay a lot, but will be a museum quality paint job. Hand painted. Be prepared to pay a lot for that quality. All advertising pics are of the hand painted prototype, so they will always look nicer. And ANY that are at shows or conventions, are also done by these artists to be the best to show off. They might have a gallery to show off some, so they could do an extra for that to show off.

Hi Slavko Yes, and I would recommend you thin that with a little water to weaken the bond so that it does not grab and lift the paint on you.
