@SBB333 yep. In lots of media it's been depicted yellowish orange, brown or even green. Purple is too simular to Joker's laufhing gas.

I believe the assumption is the scarecrow gas is making batman or whoever is seeing this think of Robin as Robin coming out of his own grave. It's not technically really happening it's a trick the gas plays on the person. At least that's my take on it.
