Singing acapella live in front of not only professionals, but thousands of viewers is terrifying for me. Good on you Lewis!

Lewlew was by no means perfect here but what a good bloody effort and a huge amount of confidence most people dont have. Just another thing to add to the pile of reasons I respect this man
@graceblocher89243 жыл бұрын
If anything it just brings us back to the old days of shanty singing. It wasn't pretty but it was uniting. Even if the timing wasn't quite right it is good fun. Gotta love the johns too

Badass, I didn’t know this song before Lewis sang it in dread hunger, cool to see him sing it here with these awesome boys.

It makes me so happy each time I've seen lewis slowely get more confident through the song, until at the end where he is shouting out the lyrics practically~

Im really glad Lewis got to do this loved watching those TTT and Dread Hunger videos on the main channel where he'd just break out into song hahaha

Said it before and I'll say it again, the joy of folk music is that it doesn't matter if you can sing or not. Heart and passion is all it takes. It's wonderful.

It’s weird hearing Northwest Passage without Ped singing wonderwall on top of it

It takes a real big pair to take the lead in a song alongside some of the most famous people in the world for doing this exact kind of music Especially when you're a chemist, comedian and manager by trade Mad respect to Lewis. As usual.

I had never heard of them before this. Better check them out Edit: Im not surprised that I liked The Longest Johns (i personally like when groups sing like that) but something about Lewis just going for it near the end made me tear up. Is the song supposed to make people emotional?
@alexmiddleton22763 жыл бұрын
I’d recommend listening to ‘bones in the ocean’ also by The Longest Johns ,it made its way round the internet as a meme song, but it’s genuinely good. A lot of their songs carry a somber tone.

Mingulay boat song is another good one. I also like Fire and Flame since it's about a hugely devastating event in Canadian history

A lot of the sea shanties once actually listened to, have somber and morose tones. Health to the Company for example, has a tale about drinking after and between jobs. And the fact that you may simply never return. The sea is a vicious vocation.
@TomDufall3 жыл бұрын
"Mary Ellen Carter" is also one they did that session which is emotional at the end. A M is right that "Bones in the Ocean" is about as somber as it gets.
