The thing which i felt common in Punjab and Ireland was not just about the separation of a land. The another common thing which i found within the history is that after Punjab, it was the Ireland which faught the most guerrilla wars within the world. In 18th century the Punjab was the major land and also a welcoming land for invaders from Khyber Pass (the path between two mountains which is at Pakistan and Afghanistan border today) and in early 1800, Punjab was a separate nation and in 1838, Khyber pass was under the kingdom of punjab and since then, there wasn't a single attack done on punjab and india from that path till today. Punjab wasn't under Britishers like the rest of the India until 1857. The india was under Britishers for nearly 250 years but the punjab was under Britishers for 90 years. I have been to Glasgow Scotland from year 2010 to 2015 as i have seen this thing even in Scottish people. I remembered when i went to London, Wolverhampton, New Castle Upon Tyne, Middlesbrough etc and one thing i found pretty strange and common that these counties were not accepting Scottish currency as they just want the note with Queen on it but in Scotland this isn't the thing i saw. Then i started speaking to locals and even at my college which was named Reid Kerr situated in Paisley about this issue and then i realized that its not just the flag which was different, there was a difference in accent, currency, and even the culture too. I found the similarities of these issues which were quite same with punjab and india. Actually in 1947 it was only punjab which was divided as previously the geography of this land of punjab was like a butterfly and in 1947 during the partition of india and pakistan, the land of punjab was separated as same as like left wing of the butterfly is the west punjab which is in pakistan today and the right wing which was part of india and it was again divided in 3 states those were Punjab, Haryana, Himachal in 1966. So since then, the law which is followed in whole world, even in other states of India but which is kept unseen in punjab that is riparian law. The water which flows from punjab, its 78% is given totally free to other states like haryana and mostly rajisthan but the natural resources of those states are not for free for punjab. The remaining water of punjab was again tried to give for free in 1980's but learning from 1960's water's tritty, some how that time people of punjab were aware of the consequences afterwards so they faught for it and stopped that SYL cannal somehow. Punjab is the land of most fertile land not only within india but all over the world and punjab have mostly farming proffesion as the major source of income. Punjab is supplying rice, wheat, corn, suggercane within whole india with the best quality of these crops. Still its not given that attention as the ground water level have been went down from 30 feet to 150 feet within last 25 years which is quite major issue as it will be going more low until the river water is not been used for farming. This water's issues could be solved if these two states are given the rights to solve this issue on their own by being on table. These issues could be solved in a day if these are discussed with in two states but both of the states have no rights on their own to take any decision. So this was the issue which sidhu highlighted in this song and that is why it was banned within india. Sidhu had always touched those issues which are to be solved as every person from any state atleast should be having the rights of using natural resources. Great Job man, your speaking accent reminds me the visit to Ayr, Isley, and Mull. Its 100% same as spoken in Isley especially. 👍👍

Hello brother, I am sikh from Punjab but let me tell you that it is not simple as you relate with your history because this was not independence like of thing. That guy shown in images - whom you say as one who defend country - is terrorist. He entered the religious place to protect himself from gov and let that religious place got slaughtered by attacks. Although sidhu was a very good as artist but not as much good as he made in politics. He gave anti national songs clearly supporting the idea of dividing country. I myself being a sikh admit that we are not given with all rights which we should have but becoming and supporting terrorist is not a good way to accomplish that. He himself joined the same party which was involved in killing of sikhs but people fooled by emotions of his death cannot see his double standards. This is another side of coin. In conclusion I would say they were fighting for right cause with wrong way. Violence is never a solution but they chose terrorism and that is why they are getting backlash and not achieving their goals in now days.
