Sydney makes me think of good and tender Ashley in “Gone With the Wind”. He vacillated between Melanie (pure in heart and all that is good) and Scarlet (who hungered for praise and was extremely selfish). I hope they make another season, but left as it is, it’s very symbolic of our own character, wanting to enjoy vanity and worldly pleasures yet knowing there is more fulfillment in loving others more than ourselves. Thankfully, the movie was saved by the sweet love that grew between Lord Babington and Esther. I love how, even though she said she didn't love him, he said he just wanted to make her happy. That’s the unconditional love God wants us to develop.

I have watched the eight episodes, and was so appalled and disappointed with the ending, as Jane Austen would not have had such an ending, all her novels confirm this. Sidney is a big boy, and he prove many times that he can say no to his brother's caprice. But married a woman who already left him before for a richer man?Like really? They warn Charlotte before, "Sidney is instable", "don't trust him"... Even her father tell her don't trust people... Sidney was messing with Charlotte mind, playing hot and cold with her, even if he had feelings and still, and i really hope, if there is a season 2, that she will grow from it, and make him regret that silly decision.
