A lovely tree Sid and you made the right choice of pot. It looks like the tree and the pot were made for each other. The round drainage discs are brilliant, I have been using them now for a couple of years and wouldn't even think of using sheet screen now. A freat video again Sid. Looking forward to seeing it in leaf. Take care Sid.

Nice tree Sid I like the surface roots that are displayed, pity about the pot but I wonder if it being root bound had quite a lot to do with cracking the pot, to get it out I would just crack the pot on all sides as it’s no use anyway, I like those screening discs, I see a lot of people are using self adhesive screen which I suspect are plasterers screed which seems a cheap way to do the job, not sure I would use it though as it seems a bit flimsy to me and not sure it would allow water to drain well. The tree looks great, trunk is starting to take on a mature look which makes a big difference! It looks good from all sides so the round pot works well with it. Like Cooper's attitude too, why do the hard work when you can get someone else to do it for you instead,

How old this tree? Pretty cool to start seeing change in bark colour - feels like birch tease you for years with the promise of silver. Extremely handsome shape -one of the nicest root bases I've seen on a birch. Looks like Cooper has trained you to play fetch quite well lol! Smart pup has it all figured out

If memory serves, and it doesn't always, the tree is around 6-8 yrs. It could even be 10 yrs. It was a "volunteer " seedling that popped up in another pot and was "rescued" it has been chopped several times to form the shape. Cooper is terrible at "fetch" I throw the ball he catches or rounds it up, shows me where it is and I'm supposed to get it and he moves off for me to throw again. Works well on a walk but involves a lot of me trudging backwards and forwards in the garden. Lol. Stay safe Sue

How long have you had the dog? He seems like he's not so young any more.

Cooper will be 9 this year. We've had him since he was 9 or 10 weeks. Unfortunately, he is in end stage Rheumatoid Arthritis and so isn't as nimble on his pins anymore. Still young at heart and the painkillers help, but sadly, he has it in his spine as well so we take each day as a bonus. Stay safe

Welcome to the UK. The litter I use is Kittyfriend Pink non clumping. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that there is a real problem getting hold of it at the moment as it seems out of stock everywhere. I'm looking into an alternative, and if I come up with something, I'll let people know via the channel. Stay safe
