Hey man, great tutorials really learning well! Got a quick question. I have created a similar block on a conveyor and using a S7 1200, but what if I want to control through Profinet rather than hard wiring the sensors and motors etc? Using a multicontrol to control sensors and motors btw. Thanks

I'd agree with most of it, except for the Timer used on the conveyor. Why not use a Negative Pulse edge to stop, then the box would trigger the Sensor 1 (positive / rising edge) and when it passes the box the program would trigger a negative / falling edge which would trigger a 1 (on the ladder logic) causing the conveyor to stop - reason being if you have an adjustable speed conveyor (which isn't the case here I know but as a teaching video it might be a bad habit some people would pick up). Just my 2 cents.
@PeteVree4 жыл бұрын
You're entirely correct. Negative pulse is the best way. When you look at my videos, you're viewing someone learning just as you are. Once i learned about the Negative Pulse, it allowed me to clean up my programming. Now, whenever I am using a timer to make things work, I know I am being lazy.
@inothome4 жыл бұрын
I was going to say something similar, there's enough sensors to not need to time anything. But Pete has already replied to your comment. Great video none the less! Just checked and there is a 30 day free trial for Factory I/O now.... I know what I'm doing for the next 30 days.

Very good explanation. I have a question which may sound stupid. Could the program be simplified without those "limit" diffuse sensors 1, 3, 6 before and after the "turntable" ?
@PeteVree7 жыл бұрын
You could do it with timers, but often they use the limit diffuse sensors just allow you to physically confirm the placement of the pallet. Here is a great video from Sick Proximity Sensors demonstrating logistics in real life: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaa4oX2frqZjmJo

Just curious, could turning the turntable roller off be as simple as using the negative pulse of Diffuse Sensor 6. As in -|N|-? Can use same command to release turntable turn holding contact
@PeteVree4 жыл бұрын
Yes. At the point I made the video, I was not aware of the Negative Pulse instruction. It would have eliminated using timers as well. Now I know that I am cheating or not creating clean code if I have to use a timer to make something work.

This video helped out so much but I just have one question really because looking at your plc program when the turn table turns the 90° what in your program makes it return back to its home position because I cant see that bit in your program because wouldnt you have needed to use a sensor on the last conveyor to make it return or am I missing something it would be nice is someone could point this but out for me

Sir Can You Tell Me How This Turntable turn back to its rest position ? and please where is the 90 limit sensor please ?
@swqaweng41474 жыл бұрын
the turnable table itself must already have its own control system to let it turn back to its rest position, that is why the table can turn back to its rest position after its limit 90 sensors is triggered. in the video, the limit 90 sensor is not shown, that is why you can not see it. but it do exist and is located at the position of 90 degree of the table.

sir, i try using plc siemens s7-1200. in the ladder program, the diffuse sensor output can not be read on the ladder. what's the solution?
@PeteVree6 жыл бұрын
1. Make sure you have offset your inputs and outputs factoryio.com/docs/tutorials/siemens/setting-up-s7-1200-1500/ 2. Double check that you have given the diffuse sensor an output address in the factory io drivers page 3. On the main simulation page of factory io, "dock all tags" and make sure that the sensor has not been forced by mistake

nice but.....that is called "spaghetti software" (or maybe 'sausage softwware) development....no analysis, no design...directly to coding.....the professional alternative is to make an analysis & design drawing a finite state machine FSM (on a piece of paper or electronically using e.g. QFSM freeware) and then implement the FSM in ladder logic or as function block ...use memory elements like S0.0 , S1.1, S1.2 etc as states (with the corresponding comments to interpret them) to be set and cleared and SCR, SCRE to start and stop the code section for a given state and SCRT to transition to the next state within a given state .....(SCR and SCRE is al ike a case ...break statement in C/C++).....that way the code is absolutely readable and understandable , you just modify the code that affect one single state and therefore reduce the risk that one modification will not break havoc the rest of the "sausage software"....unfortunately most software engineers are unable to understand or implement a clean FSM.....we electronic engineers are much better at that because we learn it on digital design....
