It appears to me as though he was LEARNING the song as it was going down. Hence his hesitation to really kick it off. One pass of the chord progression, and then when the rest of the band kicked, he knew it was time to go.
@Jean9llo4 ай бұрын
I think both of you are right, Billy sure was learning it on the go but another thing is Sierra’s arrangements has a tone of dynamics, a lot of ups and downs, so is easy to overplay it if you don’t hold back and wait like he did. He played it cool, Billy knows he’s business

@@clutchbeyers What about Molly Tuttle. I’ve tried listening to Sierra, and she’s good, she may still make a believer out of me, BMFS though, he’s the best new musician taking the world by storm and playing lots of Jerry Garcia, he’s got the licks and the voice for the Dead.💀

And then the little older crowd like Nickel Creek/Punch Bros, Melissa Carper, Brennen Leigh, Allison Krause, Rhiannon Giddens/CCD, Bela Fleck...et al... Thanks, Loma Deren, for keeping me up-to-date with Sierra Ferrell's doin's 🙂 If the Under The Big Sky Festival techies built a ledge against the facade of the stage, about 2 feet (the height of the monitors) lower than the stage, then those ten or more God-forsaken monitors could be placed out of the audience's sightlines, on the ledge, re-locate the talent closer to the audience, keeping the distance from the monitors to the performers' ears the same, just directing the monitors' sound from the new lower angle. IF, I say, IF monitor-obviating in-ear monitors are unworkable in this situation.

Billy Strings is a "class act" and possibly one of the best bluegrass guitar players of all time. That being said, Strings could have stolen the show with some of the guitar fireworks he's famous for. Yet he's content playing a supporting role without being a show off. He has my admiration and respect. 🎸
