Agreed! Then again, Sierra does such great performances with Justin. (Not trying to stir up trouble here . . . ) Um, what's the common denominator? But these two (Billy and Sierra) do seem to be musically in sync. I have to confess, with no disrespect to her songwriting and various new directions, that I love hearing Sierra play and sing the traditional songs . . .

@@jamesculnan3144This stuff sounds like parking lot jams - not a bad thing! That common vocabulary makes this stuff possible, to just go out there cold and do a song everyone knows. That’s the real folk music. On the other hand, both of them are SO busy, and have their hands full with all the copious musical ideas gushing out of them, the effort of doing a proper trad album seems unlikely. We were lucky to get one out of Billy, with the ME AND DAD album he did with his dad. But his dad is totally old school and doesn’t do anything BUT the trad stuff.

@@davestagner Well, whatever . . . No doubt they're busy . . . I just thought they sounded good . . . I've heard several other performances of Sierra with Billy on videos . . . seems like something good always happens since they are both such great players and singers. I also really enjoy the performances I've heard by Sierra and Justin. And along with her own songwriting, I have the impression that Sierra really connects with and appreciates the traditional songs, while adding her own special flavor. However, it could be that neither she nor Billy Strings are in need of my advice . . .

@@davestagner One more comment -- whenever Sierra covers some great traditional song -- perhaps you have heard her videos from the last few years -- the performances strike me as being really special, because her playing and singing are always so wonderful. And I do think that her voice blends together well with Billy's, not to mention the instrumental fireworks . . . Who knows -- in this day and age, maybe a lot of people would find some great versions of "the classics" to be kind of refreshing. Anyway, I think it's very cool that Sierra's concert brought in Justin, Billy and Bela Fleck, or that a recent performance by Billy at the Ryman brought in Rob McCoury. By the way, I've heard that sometimes people make live albums, that capture some of the chemistry of the event . . .

@@davestagner You know, Dave, it occurred to me later on . . . if I attended some festival or concert, and found Sierra Hull and Billy Strings singing and playing tunes from Doc Watson and Bill Monroe in the parking lot, I'm not sure I would ever make it into the event to hear whatever was happening on stage . . .
