In the rain I had a problem with condensation. It would drip on me inside the tent. And the way you have to pitch it, your back will rub the top of your back when you climb in, soaking your shirt back with condensation. But this is a single wall. It happens to all single wall tents. The nube does not give much protection while the hammock is deployed and your standing under it organizing your hammock space and gear storage. But works great when in the hammock.

After 60 days of figuring it out, I do like this kit. Works well for sleeping in the rain forest where I live - tons of trees, uneven wooded forest floor. But I felt... Claustrophobic in it. But I do in all tents. I prefer to make a lean-to so I can watch for bears. But this cannot be a knock on the nube, it is my personal preference. I am now a fan of hammock camping but plan on designing my own "nube" that will protect and give me sight.

The gear storage has a sweet spot that is smaller then my giant UM-21 special forces backpack. Yes it can hold 200lbs, but it must all remain in the sweet spot or you will pull on the nube and the nube is not designed to have any strain that way. I pitched it in the rain one night and awoke to below freezing temps. The stakes were frozen in the ground and one broke in half when I yanked to free it. My bad I guess.

My honest review continues... Overall I like this, but being new to hammock camping I did not know what I was getting into. I slept in the COLD and rain. The winter barrier was misleading to me. There is no insulation but it does protect from the wind and does "trap air" between it and the hammock in theory. Below 32 F you will need an under quilt. I did not have one so I used a very cheap foam pad with a thick wool blanket and my top quilt was a military sleeping bag. I was warm

Thanks for the good review. Any chance you could add some views of shelter from a little distance? It was a little difficult to get a perspective with only closeups. Thanks.

I slept in that setup PLUS the winter barrier in S.E. Alaska for about 60 nights. 1st time EVER hammock camping so it took this novice a long time to figure things out. It does not come with instructions, but what does these days. It has those scannable codes, but I am ignorant to those. They should number all their KZbin videos so you know you have seen them all.

You have some great advice and points of view Dan. You should think of doing your own video! I would watch and listen to you! I stayed in a Nube while traveling Japan for 7 weeks, staying in the Nube' for 42 nights and loved it! We had little issue with condensation except on the top bunk (my daughter and I stayed under on Nube' together) we found she needed to have an item hanging over one edge of her hammock to give air flow fixed it for her. And like you we had to figure out what worked and what didn't. We need to make a video of how to hang two hammocks in there to help others.... the ones that I have seen are not helpful. I loved reading what you wrote, thank you for taking the time to do so. Enjoy that Nube' and the outdoors! Would love to hear any new advice/impressions since it's been a year. Take care.

Gallivanting Val Thank you for the nice comments. I have always thought of making a channel... maybe someday! I sold the Nube: It is a little too heavy and bulky; I am a side sleeper, and I did not like how claustrophobic I felt in it. But i believe in the product- its just not for me. I went with an UL hammock that is strung the opposite way allowing me to side sleep. My cover is Cuben Fiber and I set it up raised rather high above the hammock. I like to see the bear or moose approaching, not just here them! I also own a 2 person Cuben tent that is also sub 2 pounds... but it is just not practical in the south east (Alaska). Unless you stick to scenic hiking trails, it is hard to find a spot not swamped with water, at a slope, or covered in devils club. The hammock is the way to go.

Can you make this work with two hammocks suspended on three trees? (in an acute triangle) it works better for us than a spreader bar...not so teeter totter.

Looks great! Are you gonna do an "after use" report/review as well? It was good to hear that you first impressions are so good. It seemed good in their advertisement, it's nice to hear from such an experienced 'hammock camper' that it really is Good. Thanks for the video and the heads up about the video too :) By the way did it help with the staying warm issue?

What about insulation? Didn't see anything about underquilts in this. Looks like you would be freezing you butt off or having to use a ground pad. Personally I like to sleep with as little armor as possible on me. Hence underquilt. It also looks like a giant waste of tarp space above... Just saying... I go for Warbonnet Blackbird XLC with a Superfly and pole mod, cheapish ENO gear sling under that and a 0 degree underquilt. Don't think I would trade my rig for the Nube at all.

This is not "really" a review.... wishing for more than details of construction.
