Looks like you god off to a great start with that first activation. Looking forward to the next instalment. Hoping you'll share some kit tips too. I recently did a three day solo hike with a 12kg pack, which is the lightest I've managed when carrying a tent plus radio gear (kx2, antenna etc). 73, Fraser MM0EFI

Adam: Truly awesome video! I noticed you were using your phone to log. Were you using and app like 73 Ham Log or some other app? Been looking to replace 73 Ham Log myself as it can no longer be updated.

Killer hike. Any VHF contacts? I’d be shocked if so. Looks like you are definitely in BFE.

Those peaks are so high you can actually do well on VHF. The Sierra slopes away to the West and it's common to reach out to Fresno and I-5 in the central valley. I worked 2m the next day for a number of contacts!

@@K6ARK Nice! From a really quick satellite/topo glance it appeared you may have been in a pocket surrounded by those peaks. Glad they opened up for some line of sight options. Looking forward to the rest of the vids from the trip.

Please consider doing a pack dump video, or at least letting me know in a reply how you were able to keep your pack at 20 pounds for 4 days
