Good hunting ! Looks quite different from the alpine meadows though. I like your light winter white jacket, which is probably the one you use on your Toppjakt. Make and model ? Weidmannsheil !
@THLR4 жыл бұрын
It's Pinewood and it's overpriced shit. It does nothing but change colour, the best thing I'll say about it is the low weight. I mostly use surplus military overwhites for winter, the market for snow hunting is so small that there's very little available. Taiga is good, but oh, the price...

On this kind of terrain too much snow can be deadly. It hides the holes you are walking on. An advantadge of this sharp limestone is it will never be slippery. Good shot !
@THLR4 жыл бұрын
I noticed! I got a healthy respect for the limestone the very first day, walking here definitively requires more care than walking at home. I was surprised at how fragile and loose the rock formations could be in places.

@THLR4 жыл бұрын
I told the guys "you just stay up there, I'll drag it up". The reply was something like "Yes you try. But no, two man job". The boots simply lost traction before I had any meaningful progress. We boned out the animal and carried it home in pieces. To be honest, I was a little worried when I felt the weight of that thing. Looking at it sideways, not all that different from a roe, but over the shoulders it had a lot more mass to it.

Hallo Thomas. Is this an 20 Inch Barrel in 17 or 19 mm? What Kind of Bullet do you use in this Video?
@THLR4 жыл бұрын
Hi Christian, I cut all my barrels to 20" and use 17mm standard (cheapest) whenever possible. I used Hornady 105gr Amax due availability and legal requirements, will use Sierra 100gr Tipped GameKing now that it is available.
@vadimkulushev45044 жыл бұрын
@THLR4 жыл бұрын
I use Amax for training and hunt because I shoot small game only. I would never use the Scenar for big game (or any game other than birds). If you want a different bullet than Oryx for range, I would try Nosler Accubond.

Waidmannsheil.!!!!is it illegal to use a silencer in Croatia? What Good features does a silencer needs for hunting? Easy to clean? Good balance with the rifle. ? ,,,,,,,,,,, karel
@THLR4 жыл бұрын
Waidmannsdank! Yes, it was not legal to bring my silencer to Croatia. I buy my silencers solely from ø size, lenght & weight and take whatever -dB effect I get since I wear ear defenders regardless. With modern silencers these numbers have improved to the -27 to -34 dB region which is very good. I prefer silencers in the 300-400 gram weightclass, not adding more than 15cm and a reasonably small ø. This gives about 150 grams increase in overall rifle weight and ok balance when my barrel is shortened to 20". I don't clean my silencers, I simply hang them on the wall above the radiator so they dry out properly. Occasionally I get a large carbon buildup which will crack and the flakes rattle a little, I then open the silencer and simply shake it out as the sound is annoying. I started with A-tec as this was the first brand here to develop a small silencer (the discontinued CTM4) and I've basically never left the brand as I haven't had any problems with them. Norwegian hunting magazines are quite good at making silencer tests, and I have noticed that Atec places high every test. For that reason alone, I have seen no reason to change. The only other silencer that have impressed me was Svemko, I heard that one on a match and allthough the cartridge was only 6mm BR (or similar) it was very quiet. So... a long post about nothing really.

Very nice Material 👍🏻 Are you happy with that Minox? Saw you used some S&B in older Videos. Why have you switched? Greetings
@THLR4 жыл бұрын
I wanted to experiment with reticles and needed to find a manufacturer that would take my $ and install a custom version. However, the Minox turned out to perform as good as my S&B scopes (which means reliable and ability to see any deer I can find at very last light), so in the end I got rid of the S&B's.

@THLR4 жыл бұрын
@@theend___. in the end I decided the Minox ZP5 delivered the same as S&B PMII for less money. I have shot too many lowlight deer to believe otherwise. I did once ruin a turret from applying excessive force - believed I was on revolution 1, but it was 2. Nothing happened to the scope, but I dented the interior turret indicator.

Explain the twig rubbed on the chamois and being put in his mouth. I assume it is a tradition.
@THLR4 жыл бұрын
It's called 'Letzter Bissen' It's an old tradition for much of Europe, It's based on a reconciliation between the dead animal, its soul, spirit and hunter. It is a formal mark of respect to the hunted animal.

THLR.NO I will start it with my customers. I am a deer hunting guide (all fair chase with no fences) and think the tradition sounds very respectful. Thank You.
@FearsomeBookling4 жыл бұрын
It is something we do in Germany as well. It has two aspects: One is making peace with the dead animal (as was already mentioned). The second is to mark the animal as being taken by the hunter. Once you found it and did that, it was formally yours (that was perhaps as least as relevant as the other aspect in earlier days). A great video!

You guys are nuts! Whats with the 6xc, is it your "favored" One Gun Choice these days?
@THLR4 жыл бұрын
It was part of an article series I did for swedish gunmagazine Vapentidningen. Could the scandinavian go-to calibre 6,5mm be improved in ways that offered a difference for my use? First part was decreasing winddrift/ increasing error margin for windcall (300NM), but the recoil and unfamiliarity (I did default 6,5 windholds when things needed to go fast) made it a special purpose item. Second attempt was lowering recoil whilst still staying legislation legal for the game I was hunting, hence the 6 XC. By all means, the 6 XC works beatifully, but I can duplicate it for less $ with 6,5mm and 123gr bullets. So once this barrel is burned, I'm back to 6,5mm. Love the 6 XC, but I'm not willing to take the extra cost a 6mm entails were I live.
