Spent most of my life in the Mother Lode, though I left there in '91. 70s, 80s, wine and cheese sunset tours on the train down to Waterford and back. In winter, to escape the snow higher up, we'd hike down the tracks from Red HIlls (Back to the Future III), hunting small game, varmints, waterfowl. Summers would be uphill from Tuolumne City, the Westside and Cherry Valley line, when the old wooden trellis was still there. Or access from the Cottonwood Road. These videos always make me homesick.

Well done on a comprehensive view of the 3-spot in service! The classic 4-6-0 Rogers has no trouble running the relatively low speed limits of the Sierra with two coaches and a caboose, and she switches like a yard champ to boot.

Happy St.Valentines 2021 AD. Loco 3 was also in "Little House on the Prairie" with episode "Runaway Caboose" with steel yellow caboose, but I forgot number. Engine 3 had to run in reverse to let caboose couple onto cowcatcher. Some scenes had 3 kids looking out windows but it was being pushed by diesel hidden off screen. But another scene was real loose caboose passing over cameras, then diesel catches it on other end. In dramatic finale scene, Pa Ingals by Michael Landon is standing.g on cowcatcher pilot deck waving at kids to get back before they hit. Film scenes included Jamestown station and yard tracks. OK. What are your favorite scenes?????

My cousin works at Old Rail Town in Jamestown. My mother and father both worked at Southern Pacific Railroad for decades.

The Hooterville Cannonball was the passenger train from Petticoat Junction. The Motherlode Cannonball is Railtown 1897's excursion train.

Western Express Locomotive 4-6-0 Ten-Wheeler T328 16:20 [train whistle]
@Strasburg199111 жыл бұрын
why is the whistle different than the one back from the 1990s. or is it just the BP
@SierraRailway11 жыл бұрын
Sierra #3 has worn this whistle since 1947, and to my knowledge is the only one she has worn since that time (due to the fact that this whistle has a special valve that is not common on many types of steam whistles). The only reason it sounds different is because it has been restored since #3 was rebuilt. It was almost completely worn out when the locomotive stopped running in 1996.

What type of whistle was used when it was shown on Petticoat Junction? That whistle had a very distinct sound...never heard a steam engine whistle like it....
@SierraRailway4 жыл бұрын
@@jimmywyatt9799 Unknown. The whistle heard on the show was not one used on the number 3, it was a stock studio archive recording.

Do any of you guys remember this locomotive on the TV series CASEY JONES in 1957 and 58, starring Alan Hale?
