Hi Si! You knocked this video right out of the ballpark! Thank you for sharibg your adventure and your finds. * When some jerks spit or throw bottles, just remind yourself of us vipers on the other side of your video just "digging" what you do ccx and share! * It never ceases to amaze me to see the foreshore! From here in Georgia, USA, it often looks muddy, fine wet mud, and other times like wet clay. And when I see you dig and the surface is so dense with "stuff it often looks really hard to dig through! * I enjoy every video you make and every video zinc makes too! * I'm old like your 80 years of age fellow detector John Webby; and I want to sit down right there on the shore with you. * I'm stunned and amazed by the density of finds. The mud, the clay, the glass, the industrial metal, the lead type :-) :-) :-), the coinage, the tokens; man, it looks like work but also like so much fun! * Can you tell I think your video, your finds, your narratives, and you are ***AWESOME***!!! Thanks, and I so look forward to the next adventure. So many times I want to say "wait", what was that other thing?! * Never heard of a wig curler before! Yikes and wow!

What a coincidence seeing Rich's 6” coil on the Equinox on the day my 6” coil arrived. Mine is now mounted and I can hardly wait to get back to some of my trashy sites...just as soon as the ground thaws. I can’t even imagine trying to sort through all the iron you folks have along the Thames. Always enjoy you channel and the finds that are unique to the UK that we don’t see here in the Midwest of America. Cheers!

Great video! I like that type too! I think it was cool that you inked them and stamped on paper to show the letters! Maybe lead type wears out and they'd throw them in the Thames and buy more? Cool finds either way! I think you are right...that coin looks bronze all grainy and porous looking....man wouldn't that be cool 😎 if you found the remnants of a Roman Gladius in the Thames! I bet there is one there somewhere!

Hi Si, I think maybe there are a lot of people who envy you and what you do. You can't blame them for being interested. I live in Australia but lived in London for nearly 24 years from late 72 to mid 95. I did see people raking around on the foreshore then and often wondered what they were doing. Not everyone is able to take part, but there are those of us who are fascinated and for myself, wish I was back there and able to do what you do. If people are nice, why would you treat them with disdain 'we'll answer them if we're in the mood'. Really, that comment surprised me. Maybe you've been doing this so long you've forgotten what it's like to be on the other side. Best wishes always.
@Sifinds5 жыл бұрын
Hi Leone, I was talking about Mudlarkers in general, some people just keep their head down. If people scream at us from the embankment, we might not engage with them. If people ask you nicely, how's it going? Then of course we will be polite and talk to them. I am always happy to talk to people that come up to me : )

I know how you feel, even in America, metal detecting, we get stared at, questioned, pestered by drunks etc. Sometimes I want a sign on my back that says: NO, I've not found anything special, just exercise! Or if I'm really tired of questions, I reply in German and they leave. It is a ship on one side and a train on the other! The Tiny Tim. And there is a man at the heel. Nice pipe! The double ff is actually an "S"
@stephensaunders18455 жыл бұрын
The double f is just that, ff. It's a ligature, and you still occasionally see it - desktop publishing programs like Quark Xpress and InDesign have the facility to enable or disable them. S looked like a single long f (but without the crossbar) when it appeared at the beginning or in the middle of a word. In an ss pair, the first would be the f-like version, the second a conventional s. I really must get out more...
