Considering that this game was loosely based on Tomar defeating Jaxi in several different gruesome ways meant they had to stop before Tomar started yelling about the "truth of destroying your lessers" Tomar saying he "knows nothing of it", regarding the game, and then proceeding to discuss, in detail, information on what a sifu is and what one does was a slight hint at his dark lore.

My parents were split up at the time so I was staying with my ma and him and he slept on the ground floor because he was getting too old to make it up the stairs. The official coroner report said he died of a heart attack in his sleep, probably agitated by his diabetes, and the doctors said that it isn’t all that uncommon for people to experience heart failure at his age. All signs pointed to him dying of natural causes. If you kill Moby Dick, you aren't stopping other whales, because they're just animals; so it's a waste of effort, especially given Ahab gave everything to hunt Moby Dick. Humans on the other hand? If you kill a human from a certain gang, it teaches the rest of the gang a lesson, though they may get revenge on you.

to correct the Metal Gear reference, essentially there's an "easter egg" if that's what you'd want to call it. there's a point in time where snake is talking to someone over the voice comms in FULL ENGLISH and they go "Wow snake, your Russian is Superb!" implying that you were speaking Russian and not English. in Mgs 5 they also kinda make fun at this. as spoiler free as I can make it, there's a chunk of metal that gets lodged in your head and when you go to Russian speaking bases and try to interrogate them, They tell you the metal rod has messed with your memory of other languages making you get interpreters for them
