Great video. You can use a good quality 1.5 mm punch for the pin removal, with no issues. Simply tap the pin out carefully until the extractor releases; you dont have to kick it all the way out, and ensures you can't put the wrong pin in the wrong hole. Same applies to the firing pin retainer pin.

Great video and thanks for passing the slide knowledge along. I noticed all of the other videos concern the legacy ejector. I was all set to play along at home until Sig sucker-punched me with the half-moon punch. Sig has it also in their store go store>tools don't select any filters just scroll up. there are only 5 tools. The one you want is the P250 Armorer's Punch set, it also includes the sight adj tool for the P250 and SP2022. As of 01/2018 it is $53, Brownells is just the punch for just under $20. Thanks again.

Just wanted to drop a comment thanking you for the video, just ordered the tool a few minutes ago thanks to your number. Did a 100% disassembly on my frame but was scratching my head for the slide since all the other videos featured the smaller extractor and older legacy slide.

I've heard conflicting reports... are those pins reusable, or not?
@zenonayala95573 жыл бұрын
This comment comes a few years later, but as time goes by and theses slides become a little more affordable, these vid come in handy. I only have one question. Do you install the firing pin first or the extractor first. Or does it make a difference at all
@zenonayala95574 жыл бұрын
What do you suggest, the firing pin first or the extractor first.
@matthewjones12788 жыл бұрын
I saw this question before but i haven't been able to find a good answer, can you reuse the pins after taking them out or do you need a new pin? I have all the parts to change my extractor springs except a new spring, should i get a new one or can i keep the same pin after replacing the extractor and springs?
@charlieking19787 жыл бұрын
I have the same question. I attended a Sig Armorer's course about a decade ago; we dealt with the old-style carbon steel slide with the removable breech block. The instructor told us the roll-pins holding the breech block in were a one use pin and not to use them again. So I'm curious, can these pins in the new style slides be reused?

Excellent video! Thanks. I'm ordering a few extractors, springs and pins. The extractor on my brand new Legion 226 SAO self destructed after only 160 (!!!) rounds. Brand new! Sig repaired it, but I may just do it myself next time. Next time? I have a whole lot less confidence in the new Sig pistols now that this has happened. Some of my W. German and German made pistols are going strong after over 20 years. If I had the parts, I wouldn't have been w/o the pistol for three weeks. I know, 3 weeks is not bad at all. but still. And I'm ordering a few of each, because I have a few new/E2 style slides.
@jimf19647 жыл бұрын
froggymann65 I've had mine for a few months, and put around 4-500 rounds through it, and all is well, but I was thinking on ordering a couple spare parts too....just in case. God I love this gun though!

I have a P230 and the ejector, pin and spring fell off. When I try and reinsert the pin from the top of the slide it won't go in-seems like it is too big. Can you help?

Gods above. I have a Sig P229 RX Legion. Not only do I have the E2 upper but I also have a romeo1 reflex sight to contend with as well. So if I ever need to do maintenance on the firing pin or extractor, not only do I need to make a half round punch, I also need to remove the RMR as well. Which means I'll need to sight it in again too. Oh well. Still thanks for the information. Good to know for the future. It's worth noting even this is not as complicated as the full maintenance procedure for my Para-Ordnance light double action 1911 high capacity. Yeeesh... At least my rifles are dead simple.

I bought a new sigp229r enhanced elite 40 , took it out to the range and had failure to feed (round stuck in a 45° where the slide does not close) 7 out of 10 rounds . I sent it to sig and they said the guid rod spring needed replacement and was replaced , I also got the action enhancement package with the ramp polished .... received the pistol and took it to the range this time it failure to feed 7 times out of 100 rounds . Why does my buddies same model sig never has any issues as I do? , we use the same ammo and I even used his mags .....limp wrist?
@richardayala43567 жыл бұрын
slntscpe I think you are limp wristing the gun. I have never had a failure on my 229 Enhanced elite. Firmer grip needed as the gun fires.
@slntscpe7 жыл бұрын
Richard Ayala thank you for the reply but after sending back to sig for the 4th time I found out the problem myself ... the inner slide was grinding on the sear pin (was not flushed or sunked in a little) when the slide traveled max rearward causing the slide to lose momentum. The sear pin was totaly grinded off and a chunk of the slide was indented
@project86xero6 жыл бұрын
Makes since. It's pretty hard to limp wrist a metal frame gun. It's more of an issue with polymer frame guns. Especially Glocks.

1/16” punch did it for me without customization. Great description of disassembly though. One other tip: don’t fully remove pins.
@michaelweston60835 жыл бұрын
What is the purpose of not fully removing the pin? Is it just the fact that it makes it easier to install? Or does not fully removing it extend the life of the pin?

Fellows, I'm pretty sure that Sig has lifetime on any of their parts that fail. They even send you a paid shipping label. I've done this twice on rifles. BTW, thank you for this video, normally I would have Sig change it but I compete so I'm faced to having a spare part to get going and not wait on the turn around time for Sig to fix.
