@@jamesdeek7039 Just purchase a bunch of C Products DuraMag's. I have dozens by purchasing over twelve years and more. For my Robinson Arms XCR L 7.62X39 and Maxim Defense MD15 in X39 also. The 20rd/magazines are more compact for carry. PEACE

My 11.5" Spear LT is very solid, barely any left/right play in the barrel, but will be interesting to see if SIG does a clamp or handguard revision.

I bought my 16 inch .308 in May of 2024. There is no flex of any kind with my unit. I'm not sure if a few made it out of the factory not properly torqued or machined and that was the problem, or if sig quietly fixed the problem during rolling changes.

The only issue I have had so far with my 11.5 is that the aluminum bumps at the start of the handguard track has completely ground off from taking off and putting on the handguard... I have no flex at all in mine despite that, but it really felt like the handguard was one size too small for the upper and caused a bit of damage getting it on.

People have tested this mounting a laser designator on the front end of the receiver and installing a bore-sight laser. That's the correct way to test it. The barrel does move - a lot - in some 308 Spears.

I did see this videos and I agree with their test methods. But we do need to go more in depth on the design and what is causing the failure they saw in there unit.

​@@o329oalso to point, when the screws are tightened on the barrel, Im pretty sure it changed the geometry of the mount to the barrel extension that causes the mounting shape to be narrow, which allows a tapering /pinching to let the barrel to play side to side, not up and down. In general, the SIG LT/MCX has a flawed way of connecting the barrel and handguard on that single ring mount and clamp method.

soak it in water or steam it, Put the receiver in a vice block and use a 7/8" wrench.

From the future. It was the barrel, because the 2 screws holding the barrel in place from the factory were not torqued to spec. It could also be the handguard in combination with the barrel. Need to check both.

With my rifles the handguard as a whole is shifting and not returning to where I need it to be. The barrel is flexing as much as any other in that length that I have tried.

Will your handguard design be thinner or the same width? I prefer thinner handguard because I can grip the rifle better. Personally I’m waiting for a aftermarket solution that can get the handguards width as close to the normal M4 as possible. With this being a completely deferent design I know it can be as slim as the AR but that beefy handguard creates a worse shooting experience to me. Just because a gun is piston doesn’t mean it needs to have a thick handguard. It seems like lazy engineering on Sigs part

It’s possible. I think I would do a two piece setup to get a super low profile handguard, the gas block will definitely be a constraint though.

How is the accuracy with that much play in the barrel? Wow there is so much flex in that handguard, I got a super cheap AimSports MLOK handguard for my .308 Aero M5 for $55 and that has no flex when no installed and is made from 6061-T6, kind of sad with the price Sig charges that their parts are flexing like that.

There is no barrel nut, it is clamped in the receiver and if the bolts are loose it's going to wiggle.

Most metals have a level of spring back depending on carbon content density or other processes changing the structure of the material itself. Flex of the components on their own is not super horrible if you can make up for it in assembly. So the flex in the handguard is affecting the system as a whole because it can’t be sturdy enough as assembled.

They are moving at the screw holes if not torqued correctly, 2 little screws and a slot in the upper receiver is the only thing aligning the handguard. I set the torque on the barrel and handguard 5lbs over Sig spec and don't have any issues.

If the barrel is torqued correctly it will not move, it's the handguard moving. Watch T-Rex arms, he says he KNOWS the barrel is moving them proceeds to prove it isn't on camera.

the rails arent moving, the barrels are moving and not returning to zero. ur not running lasers or back up irons so why would u buy the arisaka fix for it? the lt is suffering from the barrel moving inside where the barrel nut is.the rails are fine.

in the vid i went over that on my rifles that i bought the hand guard is shifting side to side not the barrel. it is always a possibility that there are people with the barrel shifting. i do run lasers wit my NVGs.

This is all consumer issues, rifle was designed with IR laser built into the optic, handguard doesn’t need to hold zero anymore. Sig made the handguard so thin to save weight on a spreadsheet
