Just ran across the video, Enjoyed it, I bought a Sig MPX 9mm pistol in 2015 and SBRd it , I added an ambi charging handle in 2019 and an upgrade trigger pack. As a lefty I like the ambi controls .I have had No problems with it. Shoots fine. Later from Texas.

Best video on the MPX to date that Ive seen! Im back and forth on the MPX or the HK SP5K. I have a dealer who handles both and will sell me either one but he definitively prefers the SIG MPX over HK SP5K for a host of reasons like fit and finish and over all cost. Thanks for a great review!

Thank you Dave for such a high quality content of this video. I appreciate "the review in parts", it was immensely helpful in taking my mxp apart for cleaning. I only wished you had taken this review a bit further. Namely, I would have loved to see the disassembly and reassembly of the trigger group. Could you please make another detail (very stable and closeup shots) of you taking out, and apart the trigger group, and its subsequent reassembly. An eagerly awaiting patron. Cheers brother! :)

+Current Domain Hi there, thanks for the kind words. Hopefully we will finish the series later this year. Finances and federal wait times haven't helped. Removing the fire control group is actually just like an AR with two exceptions. 1 is the roll pin on the ambi safety that we pointed out. 2 is the trigger bridge. We have a video on removing an AR fire control group that would explain exactly what you're looking for. Thanks, Dave

Thanks for the technical detail. Others who are interested might want to know the benefits of a AR type lock up mechanism for a relatively low pressure 9mm pistol round that functions reliably in blowback pistol/carbines formerly used by the military such as Uzi type. I was looking for such a lock up system in pistol calibers for some dynamite reloads I am considering developing in other calibers. Subscribed because of your comprehensive presentation.

Dave. Part two was great. Only one question... How will you be mounting your suppressor? That thread pitch is very unique... Do you have an adapter? If so where is it from because I need one.
@Learningfirearms
@Learningfirearms 9 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Part 2 will make its way to KZbin eventually but full30 always gets first shot (pun). I will be using a 3 lug adaptor so I can use MP5 mount suppressors as I have other mp5 platform guns. I have a review in the works for the adaptor which is from Tros USA, 13.5LH to 3 lug.

WARNING - read before you purchase. Test your ILWT barrel to ensure that ammo feeds correctly. Mine did not because of a high feedramp. ILWR is 0.060” compared to the OEM 0.035””. The higher feedramp resulted in bullets nose diving into the base of the feedramp and not onto the feedramp resulting in stoppage. Because I let the gun sit in my safe for a year and did not identify and report earlier, ILWT won’t work the issue and I am required to make Dremel modifications to correct the geometry of the feedramps to allow seamless feeding and function. I highly recommend identifying the issue early and brining it to ILWE’s attention or else you too will have to break out the Dremel.

Learning Firearms I noticed the rattle you mentioned and found that it was the front take down pin area, the upper has a little play and shifts right and left. I ended up cutting some packaging and sliding it between the upper and lower tabs and its a nice fit. I think i'm going to switch it to just a dab of silicone though. awesome video! looking forward to the next one!

Sorry but I'm uneducated, but I always thought a pistol was a hand gun? How is this a pistol, I would have thought it was a sub-machine gun. PS How tall are you. I'm 6'5, would this weapon be comfortable for me?
@Learningfirearms
@Learningfirearms 9 жыл бұрын
Pistol is the federal classification as it doesn't have a stock. A sub machine gun is a full auto gun. This isn't your traditional pistol by any means but there are more like this coming to the market where guys will register them as an SBR and add a stock. I'm 6'0 and one of the other guys is 6'2. It's a fun gun to shoot. As far as comfort tough to say and everyone is different.

Great vid! One FYI - Sig has now stated that (even if one fits), you shouldn't swap in another AR trigger group, as it will void the warranty. The issue centers around the trigger bridge. See my blog post at www.stevejenkins.com/blog/2015/06/will-upgrading-the-sig-sauer-mpx-to-an-ar-15-trigger-void-your-warranty/ and my video at kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4fdpmCglpt5f5I for more details.

Steve Jenkins Hi there, thanks for watching and the comment! I've been tearing into this issue as I noticed when I first got the gun it had an extra piece, the trigger bridge. It's function is to prevent trigger slap, i.e. movement forward from being hit by the hammer. Some AK triggers frequently have this. Due to the high cyclic rate of the gun they were concerned with trigger slap. I'm working with the Sig tech on ideas, luckily I have an email stating swapping triggers will not void warranty :-) not that I am really worried. It is off though how Sig promoted that compatibility of AR triggers at various shows and events but now says its a no go. I am also going to using a different AR type trigger that has a different hammer design that won't be an issue due to the geometry. Part 2 is coming soon, a little sooner if you're on Full30 :-) Thanks again!
@SteveJenkins
@SteveJenkins 9 жыл бұрын
Learning Firearms Which trigger group are you considering? I'm thinking a Geissele SSA would be sweet. :)
@Learningfirearms
@Learningfirearms 9 жыл бұрын
Hiperfire EDT, it has a modified hammer that won't slap the trigger. Right now it's my favorite duty/working gun type trigger. I do really like geisseles too

Steve Jenkins I read your paperclip thread on your blog. Thats good info! I did the same and used a thin piece of plastic (packaging) behind the buffer and paperclip and ended up doing a twist in the paperclip to give it a bit more strength. how is your buffer holding up? any abnormal wear yet?

That's a lot more complicated than a CZ Scorpion Evo.
@Learningfirearms
@Learningfirearms 9 жыл бұрын
It appears to be, but it also appears to be the better platform with more modularity. I like the commonality it has with the AR versus with the CZ you are stuck with some of what you get. If you're familiar with the AR this is that complicated at all. No doubt the scorpion is built from a very strong reputation though. Thanks for the comment

Great video! But... this gun frankly isn't worth the asking price and this video convinced me not to buy it. Tolerances are unimpressive. The screw on picatinny rails (personal dislike), non grooved receiver pins that have been reported to walk out during firing and cause malfunction, ugly recoil buffer at the back of the receiver, the shoddy case and single $70 retail magazine, and general fit and finish seem lacking. The quick change barrel is a good idea but will undoubtedly affect accuracy (admittedly negligible at sub gun ranges). Only things its got going for it over the cz competition is the ar15 styled controls, modularity, and the fact that it fires from a closed rotating bolt which probably means it's a little quieter suppressed. I could take or leave the mostly aluminum construction, Glock proved over 20 years ago that it's unnecessary. Just more sig junk. I'd pay $1200-1400 for this gun, tops. Sorry I'm not sorry for being honest.
