Sig P365 vs HK P7 - Two Great Carry Options

One thing is for certain, whenever H&K gets off it's ass to do something...they tend to have winner that withstands the test of time. They have massive influence on the industry as a whole. MP5, USP/Mark 23, P7...and somehow the 416. As for this gun, just like the Hi Power. Given when it was developed, it has successfully withstood the test of time. At the time, up until recently it would have been one of the better carry guns out there. It's only failing is that it's too expensive so people are less inclined to practice, let alone carry it.

I've owned my HK P7 since ~1984 and it was my carry gun for many years. Hard to beat, except for the fact the P7 weighs more than a P365 and finding a quality concealed carry holster for a P7 is difficult these days. I have a Don Hume and a Milt Sparks holsters for my P7 I purchased 30+ years ago; try finding any quality holster specifically fitted for the P7 these days. Plus, hate to say it, one needs to consider the value of a P7 these days. Is it worth the possibility of losing it, can you afford the loss? When I first purchased my P7, it cost less than a Beretta 92 (about the same price as a P365 or a S&W Shield does today), but back then a Ruger Mk1 cost less than $100. I own both a P365 and a S&W Shield 9, and personally prefer the Shield. It's easy to find holsters and improved sights, plus red dot sights (that cannot be fitted to a P7). So as much as I hate to say it, my Shield is no my EDC firearm most days. I prefer to shoot my P7 as it's still the most accurate 9mm I own, even after thousands of rounds. I still carry my P7 on occasion, but its now mostly relegated to home defence, when a carbine isn't closeby. BTW, the P7 is striker fired too.

It pains me to say this, being a big HK fan, but I don't like grip safeties...or that cocking mech on the P7. Out of these two, if they were the only girls left at last call, I'd grit my teeth, hang my head, and take the P365.

Sig 365 is good for everyone but HK P7 is better but only for some people.
