Sig P365 XMacro Gun Review

I’ve been carrying for almost thirty years. I picked this up and put it through its paces. It carries well and is very accurate. As a combat piece, this fits the bill. I’ve carried just about everything on duty and off. This gun sits at the top of my list.

I completely agree with exception of it being a combat piece. If you mean in the sense of actual combat sure but if you mean as a bonafide military duty weapon I'm going to say no even with the production M17. They are great functioning accurate firearms but the build quality is simply not there as it was with a steel framed 1911 or 92fs. As a duty weapon in regards to LEO, possibly since they don't run their firearms nearly through the same paces. I'm not bashing on sig Sauer I just haven't seen many polymer framed guns that I would trust for military duty with the exception of maybe an h&k. 🤷

I had the standard p365 and didn’t like it because it was to small so I sold it to my brother. Went awhile without having a Sig at all. I went into my local gun store and saw this gun for the first time and picked it up and then bought it. Over a 1000 rounds and not a single malfunction. Accurate for a short barrel and is now my EDC. Now my Glocks,M&P’s and even my CZ PO1(this CZ rocks) are taking a break! If you haven’t purchased this gun yet you should! Happy shooting.

I bought the frame and 3 magazines and put it on my xl. I sent my slide and barrel to magnaport and had them work their magic. With the x macro frame I finally have a gun I like.

Was familiar with the original P365 when it first came out, but decided to buy the Walther PPS M2 instead. 4-5 years ago, Walther, & its trigger was the right carry decision at the time. Fast forward today, & was browsing the local gun store, & came across the P365 XMacro. Wasn’t planning on buying anything (story of my life), but as soon I saw it, I had to have it. Immediately took the holstered Walther off my belt, handed it to the sales associate, & traded it towards the Sig. Own 3 handguns (VP9, USP Expert, & a 75 Czhechmate) that I consider un-tradable, & the new XMacro makes 4. Compared to HK, & Walther’s triggers this one might take a little bit more time to get used to, but no problems….Wouldn’t call the trigger inferior, just different. That said, the P365 XMacro might be one of the finest out of the box (no upgrades required) firearm’s I’ve ever purchased. When holstered in its Vedder, it sits just as well as the slightly smaller, single stack, 8 round capacity Walther PPS M2, but shoots like a full size. Ultra concealable, & with a 17+1 capacity makes the P365 XMacro an absolute masterpiece of engineering. 🍻 to Sig!!

I work private security and originally, I was a field officer and carried a Springfield Armory XDm Elite OSP. Now that I'm working in management for the company, I don't need a full size service weapon since I'm not a field officer anymore. This pistol intrigued me, as it's the same payload as a Glock 17, but much smaller for office/concealed carry with the same light bearing and red dot mounting as my XDm. I finally got my hands on one and fell in love, traded my Springfield in on the spot. Can't wait to take it to the range. What I like about this pistol is that it can do triple duty, big enough capacity for home defense or as a service weapon for the odd time I may need to be on a site that requires an armed officer, small enough to be concealed easily. Definitely fits the bill for many things.

The grip on this is absolutely incredible. I have never held a gun that felt so good! They nailed it on ergonomics. Also, my issue is the same as yours, that’s why I carry with 16 rounds in the mag.

Now try it with HP and shoot more than a box. Our duty rounds GDHP 124gr consistently cause failure to feeda in the 17 round mags. Multiple guns, multiple mags, this gun chokes.

I love my G19 and 19X but for appendix they were just a tad thick, the X Macro fits my hand nicely and is thin enough to make a difference with all the capacity, very nice

I built this gun. It started out as a standard 365. Then I got the Wilson combat xl frame for it. Now it’s the standard FCU sitting in the X Macro frame and the Spectre Comp slide with the XL guide rod. All in FDE. Super sexy. Love this gun!

Great review as always. This is what the XL should have been from the start. I’ve had an XL since the start of the year and liked it. Then came the Macro and I was able to get a Macro frame and slapped it on the XL and now LOVE it. Now just need to find the XL slide that doesn’t lose the rear sight. 😎

the best thing about the macro is if the grip is too long, you can swap it with the XL or the 365 grip if you've got the mags to match.

If I didn’t live in a Magazine limit state I would definitely change to that over my 365. I love my 365 and it’s on me most every day unless I want to go up in size with heavier clothing. It’s hard to beat the 365 , don’t even know you are carrying it, and I carry appendix. Nice review!

I had the same malfunction first time shooting it. Right out of the box. I noticed it was very dirty afterwards. One time only. It had Some yellow foreign material that I later found in my mag that blocked the follower from keeping the slide open. Never malfunctioned again and once I lightly cleaned the mag all was well. Great gun. I bought the Foxtrot2 light for it with the Holosun 407k green dot. I love the entire set up. Had to buy 2 more mags only to find out they released the Tac ops!!

yeah, I have trouble racking the slide when loading a full magazine. trigger has something to be desired too. fairly happy with it so far, though it's kinda new. no malfunctions yet and have been trying all kinds of different ammo.

All striker-fired gun triggers are different shades of mediocre. The P365 trigger is certainly better than any Glock, including mine with a trigger kit.

I’m a Glock guy and have carried a duty 22 .40 cal to the 19 9mm and used it as my backup and off duty weapon. Then I bought the 43 X MOS and put raised sights and an optic. Then I made it capable to carry the shield 15 round mags. My former Captain introduced me to the Sig SAUER X Macro. I bought it with the Romeo optic and raised sights. It only comes with 2 17 round mags. It has three back straps. So all in I spent $800.00 for it as is. But the Romeo sight is not easy to adjust so Sig offered a Romeo optic with up down button on the side of the optic which is much easier to use. But that was an additional $200.00 from Sig directly. Then a third 17 round mag was $60.00 directly from Sig. then another $110.00 for a holster and two mag pouch. So all in $1,170. That’s a big number when I compared an all in price of my Glock 43 X MOS just under $700.00 but that’s five mags. Two 10 round with the pistol and 3 15 round mags from Shield Arms. They were 25.00 each. Now, I hear, they are making a 17 round mag for the Glock. I’m retired and can afford the indulgence but is it worth the price difference? I can’t say just yet because I haven’t had it long enough and the honeymoon period isn’t over. Both need work on the trigger but either way both pistols are great unmodified.

A few things you don’t cover; (1) after 200-250 rds. the backstrap loosens up and that affects sight picture. (2) the trigger is not as good as on the 365-365X-XL. it’s not a walther trigger. (3) the comp reduces muzzle flip about 15%, maybe. Your standard review, as always, everything positive.

Wasn't impressed with the XMacro trigger so I installed an MCarbo trigger and it helped tremendously. It takes awhile to install but the installation video they linked to in the instructions helped greatly. I'm a Glock armorer and this was a different animal. I am really pleased now with my 365x macro but I'll still keep my Glock mdl. 22 and 19X.

I just put my XL guts and slide in the Macro grip module. Took me a week to locate a mag. But this frankengun rocks. Man it’s accurate. No I don’t have the porting but I really don’t care. I’ve owned ported pistols in the past and eventually sold them. After all it’s a 9mm, not like it has horrendous recoil.

@@Justin-LaFleur With Glock it's more like customizing a video game character. No one actually needs to modify a Glock. They are risking failures when modifying it anyway outside of aesthetics. The only real gripe I'd have for duty would be stock plastic sights.. but then people still shoot fine with them, and enter Walther PDP where the gun is raved about as perfection but also has plain plastic sights. The stock gun runs totally fine, but aftermarket support just makes it so people can "make it their own" incredibly easily. People who run all the flashy shit make the brand look bad because they are spending $2000 or more on a gun that functionally is not really any better than a lot of $600 stock guns out of the box.

My 43x is way snappier then my 365xl. Out of the box the accuracy is great from my sig. My 43x at 7 yards shots 10 inches to the left but it groups up ok. Time to change the sights I think 🤔 ordered a macro grip module and mags to throw my xl slide and barrel on. Going to give that a try.

Whoever has the P365 XL just has to buy the XMacro grip and magazine module and that's it, the difference in recoil isn't much, it's just practicing with the weapon every time you can... if you watch videos of shooters like Sootch00 you'll be able to see Keep in mind that with any weapon they are efficient, that is, practice, practice, practice.............

I just picked up my P365 X Macro last week but I got the longer barrel (3.7) and not the compensator which has a 3.1" (a good shooter doesn't need a compensator - I'm more in favor of the longer barrel for better accuracy). I'm going to install a green laser and this will be my daily conceal. I love it!!!

My nephew got one with out the red dot we put a few 100 rounds thru his, 3 days later I got one with the aig Romeo zero red dot.. from specs, design, carryability, comfort , accuracy its a damn hard gun to beat.. and you will have less in it then a Gucci out glock..

This is exactly the review I wanted. I liked the 365 but was leaning towards the 320 compact. I heard about the XMacro and thought it sounded good but really wanted a side by side with the p320 because on paper the macro is really exceptional. This was a great review and I think I’ll be picking up the Macro as my do it all gun. Thanks so much. Your detail on the 1911 thin grip was really interesting.

I had the P320, never shot it well, didn't like the trigger. Picked up the new P322 when it came out for a pinker/trainer. Then the P365 X-Macro came out! Sold my P320 to makeup half the price of the X-Macro price! Amazing how close the P322 feel is very close to the X-Macro. Glad I made the switch!

Great features but I'll stick with my P365XL (and P365 for deep concealment or pocket carry). With the "non-flush" magazine the Macro is just a bit longer in grip that I like for concealed carry. For the same slide length I would rather have the longer barrel of the P365XL instead of the comp. With my Magguts magazine mod I have 14 in the P365XL which is plenty for the size.

Being a Glock owner since 2004, I can't get used to the grip angle on the SIGs. So vertical that they cause me to shoot low. Such a quality handgun should offer grip options.

Switching to any pistol with a different grip would probably make you shoot low or high, just requires ammo and practice. I was at the range with my 43x and some rental fn509c, and every time I switched in between it always shot weird, and now I understand why, it just requires practice with both to be honest.

I bought my wife one for her birthday. She likes it. I would get one for myself if they offered it with the standard 365 XL slide. Since they don't offer that, I will probably get the XL and replace the frame as its a $75 upgrade. I could then turn around and sell the XL frame and magazines to recoup some of the cost. :D

Thanks for another great vid! Some questions: -Would you find the vents at the top of the compensated slide would give your face blow-back if used up close? -Had you experienced any other failures since this vid was made?

My only issue w/the Macro is the short barrel. But given what it’s designed for, it’s minor and really a personal issue. The beautiful thing about Sig is I can put the XL slide and barrel on the Macro frame if I wanted to. Over all though a perfect carry weapon and I’m very happy with it.

Awesome review. This seems like an excellent firearm. For my tastes, it’s a bit big for conceal carry. I live in a 4 season blue state, so deep concealment is a priority. That grip is just a bit too long for me to do that. However, if I was in the market for a compact-sized, all-purpose pistol, I feel like this would easily be a contender. Merry Christmas! 🎄

I live in a four season blue state as well, and for many years carried a full size 1911 .45 concealed. It’s all about dressing around the gun. I now have the X-macro tacops that I carry, and it’s easier to conceal than a Glock 19, with more capacity. Just a matter of dressing around the gun…

​@@garytucholl7699 I recently picked up the Tacops as well. It was that or the Comp version and that was $50 more. I figure more barrel and a few extra mags was of more utility to me than a comp and 3" barrel. Haven't shot it yet but will tomorrow. Super excited. This gun fits my hand perfectly. I love my G19 and G48 with Shield mags but Glock fails to innovate. 17rd mag in a pistol the size of a G19 but thinner is exactly what I want in a CCW. I can conceal this sized firearm year around up here in Alaska. We don't have 100+ degree summers typically so I can wear a shirt large enough to conceal the grip.

If too big for you just get the P365. It's a slightly thinner and shorter grip. I'm 135 lbs at 5'7". The slightly larger grip on the X Macro feels perfect in my hands. The gun is super compact and quite the innovation. I've carried the HK P7 and my Sig P230 almost exclusively. Was considering the HK VP9 as my new EDC but after seeing and handling the 365 X Macro yesterday, I plan on making it my EDC if I shoot well with it and call it a day! I'll still be buying the HK VP9 though!

Since I got mine my Glock 43 has become my backup pocket gun and my other Glocks sit in the safe. My only problem is getting used to the Sig grip angle.

A excellent video on the Sig Sauer P365 XL in 9 mm this gun better than Glock 43x has 2 more rounds 12 shot magazine and night sights comes with 3 12 shot magazines the only thing is you have to buy a speed loader about $25 to $45 I think it's a better gun made in the U.S.A 🇺🇸💯👍
