My personal opinion is to prefer the cr2032 battery as it is a lithium battery. AAA is more readily available but alkaline batteries are prone to leaking which would ruin the optic. Unless you used a lithium AAA which I would assume would be more difficult to find than CR2032. Years of installing electronic security system tells me to avoid alkaline whenever possible.

Good review here. I prefer the 2032 batteries. Amazon has them super cheap even the Energizer brand. I use them on bow sights too. Is the 2 moa dot size represent 2" @100 yards or meters? Something people don't realize that have never used a red dot is that with practice one can use the top or bottom of the dot for fine shot placement reference. My old Vortec Strikefire with a 3 moa dot lets me hit a 5" diameter plate at 300 yards fairly easily. That's on a ar15 5.56 cal. Taken many coyotes with the red dot set up. Is the Romeo5 X a T1 footprint?
@kayvonjefferson95452 жыл бұрын
I just got a romeo 5 red dot an I have to hold the + button to cut it on and off. I thought it was Motion activated illumination. Can someone tell me how I can activate the Motin activation?

Nice video. I recently purchased the 5x and when I installed the battery for the first time, it became extremely hot after 2 minutes. I'm not sure what that was about so I switched the battery and it was fine. Took it to the range and shot it for 20 minutes and while I was shooting, the red dot shut off. I know if it sits for 2 minutes or so it will turn off automatically, but I was still shooting at the time and it shut off. I played around with it for a little while and it turned back on and continued shooting for another 10 minutes without issue. I'm not sure what's going on this with optic. Sig said they never heard of this happening and offered to take it back to fix, but I don't want to wait 6 weeks to get it back. Do you have any experience with this happening? Thanks.

It kind of looks like the original 5 has a few benefits the others dont and vice versa. The caps being able to use as tools, and the ability to use a low mount. On the cons side, is you lose a reticule option and a less common battery. I kind of feel like the original 5 is better even if it were the more expensive option.

I have 2 XDRs and like them a lot.

I know you did this review 5 years ago, but since Sig still sells all three versions it is still relevant. Now with that said, I want to thank you for this review. A couple of the features you showed as upgrades in the 5X and 5XDR to me are downgrades. If a ROMEO 5X or 5XDR were the only red dot I owned then it taking AAA batteries might be important to me, but I have several red dots and most take CR 2032s, so I have a lot of them on hand, making the fact that the ROMEO 5 takes CR2032s a nice feature. The other advantage is that the ROMEO5 has capped turrets, which to me is a huge advantage because a) the caps protect the turrets and b) I don’t have to carry an extra tool to make adjustments if they are needed, because the turret caps [are] the tool. Again, thank you for the review because you have shown to me that the ROMEO 5 is much better for the price than the 5X and 5XDR.

Yea, I agree. Also, having a circle around the dot is not worth double the price for me. It's kind of shameful that Sig markets these as upgrades or advanced models and it's really just minor differences.

the theory behind the turrets was, that they are raised from the body and therefor subject to damage through impact. The 5x and xdr are recessed and therefor would be harder to damage. The triple A batteries are more readily available at a variety of retail stores and probably a little harder to incorrectly install. They probably account for the slight increase in weight to the site. The 65 moa reticle can also be used as a rough guide for hold overs if you take the time do the "math" for different distances. Also makes for quicker target acquisition if you're not worried about precision shooting.

Soo what is the deference from the SOR 50000

I found your video when searching for Sig part number SOR50000 which is on your website now on sale. That model number is not one of the 3 you have there. Could you please tell me about model SOR50000 and how it is different from those 3. Thanks and great video.
@johndawson75165 жыл бұрын
The SOR50000 is the same as the SOR52001 except it does not include the low mount. It comes in a slightly less fancy package which helped Sig cut cost to offer a lower selling price.

@@johndawson7516 Thanks so much, that is exactly the info I needed and since I don't need the low mount that will work perfect for me. Thanks again.
