I have 2 of them. One has at least 7000 rounds through it as was used for competition by my son. Paint worn off. I replaced the barrel to make it a suppressor host. The second one is stock. They are fun to shoot and can be made very accurate with some parts from cw accessories.

The barrel does not use a steel insert for the the barrel frame screw. Mine was stripped from the factory. ASG shipped me a new barrel. Over time the threads just wore out on the second. I drilled tapped and installed a thread insert myself. That made a huge difference for barrel accuracy. Also on my second barrel the threads/ protector cap was slightly off center. Bullets were touching the inside circumference of the cap and if shooting numerous rounds, lead would build up to cause bullets to fly way off target. I drilled out the protector cap, which, cured that problem. Additionally, the finish is very poorly done, I refinished it the first time with Duracote that did not last a year. The second time, last summer, I refinished it with rustoleum paint, which, surprisingly is holding up much better than the original finish. The aluminum slide and pot metal frame soaks up oil like a sponge causing the finish to lift off. The second time I refinished the gun I soaked it in alcohol to dry out the oil. Lastly, if you shoot as much as I do, carbon and plating wash builds up in the slide firing pin and drop safety unit in the slide causing soft strikes. If you experience this remove the unit held in by a single pin and clean it. It gets very dirty and I clean mine at least once every 6 months. Be careful, small parts and spring. Check out you tube videos to see how its done. Other than all that it is a good gun to partner with your 1911s which I have 5 in total. Good shooting.

Had one of these for about 8 months and put about 1300 rounds for it. I liked the 1911 fit and feel, and any 1911 holster works for it. It ran with no FTF/FTE with CCI Mini Mag. The stock sights were awful - changed those to Dawson precision and those were a massive improvement. Also changed to a full length guide rod and a better bushing and that helped. The safety has too sharp a corner on it, and the 2 extra pins make it a little more 'busy 'to take down. Overall I liked it but ultimately I think for the money I put into parts I'd rather have gotten a decent Buckmark.

great job, I follow you from Italy. I find myself with all the comments made. I customized my 1911 with accessories purchased in the USA such as the slide aligning cone, recoil, spring and other parts. For reassembly of the gun, however, the steps you have shown are incorrect and in the end the use of the tool scratches the metal, as you have observed. I quickly reassemble with my hands as per the instruction manual. First I put the bushing and turn it clockwise, then the spring and the plug that I keep with my thumb, then carry over bushing to the center and that's it! Congratulations on your movies.

Still had about 10-13 FTF/FTE/stovepipes with bulk Aguila copper plated HP and also Winchester copper plated HP. 875 rounds collectively. I stopped using the bulk ammo for now. Just shot my recently-acquired GSG 1911 22LR today. Put about 100 rounds through it with zero issues, except one. It would not cycle CCI Stinger, but that was not surprising. Stinger is only 32 grain, and GSG recommends 40 grain for reliability. It cycled CCI Mini Mag 36gr HP just fine, along with several other types of high velocity CCIs, including Velocitor. It also shot Winchester Thunderbolt with no issues. Before I took it out, I sanded the frame rails smooth, and removed the overspray inside the slide.

Have mine for over a year Scootch. Here are my recommendations, buy the Nick Taylor or CW accessories upgraded guide rod and spring, polish out the paint overspray from the rails, once done this gun will eat just about any bulk pack 22 ammo. I have had one of these for a few years now. Took a couple tweaks, mainly getting the paint off the slide frame interface and polishing them. Changed up the spring, guide rod and eliminated the mag disconnect. Shoots pretty much anything I put in it. The trick is getting the paint off the interface, that will have it hanging up with low velocity ammo.

Just went to the range shoot my Sig Sauer 1911-22 yesterday for the fourth time after I bought it last year. One thing I noted when you try hard to put the recoil spring plug and barrel bushing back, I think you made a mistake as I did before. The correct way is assemble the barrel bushing first and rotate it clockwise a quarter, then insert the recoil spring guide and spring, then hold the spring plug down while rotate barrel bushing back to lock position. I love your reviews, especially you mentioned using higher velocity ammo can avoid misfire. I did have a couple of misfires in the past, maybe that was the reason.

Great gun. Picked mine up for $150 about a month or so ago. I've ran about 400 rounds through it and honestly I got no complaints. I read quite a few reports of slide cracks and failure to extract and feed but to the latter, has only happened with shittier ammo. Whenever I run CCI Minimags or Stingers, never fails to fire or feed. Whenever I use subsonics, it's a hit or miss with cycling but it's stamped on the slide it needs HV rounds. It feels good in the hand, sights are great, and all in all it was a great cheap shooter. I leave it for my girlfriend if I leave, because it's such a light load that anyone can handle and not worry about overpenetration. Tl;dr Great gun, worth the buy.

One of the great features on my GSG, (same gun, same maker) is the overspray on everything. The slide was super sluggish. I had to spend a couple hours polishing all the rails, in the groves, anything where metal meets metal to smooth it out. Use Outers GunSlick grease on/in rails. Another great ‘feature’ was the recoil spring was terrible, so I replaced the spring and guide rod with TandemCross kit. Now it almost seems to cycle ok, except it will only shoot CCI stingers reliably, nothing else, that’s another great ‘feature’ when CCI stingers are hard to find…..so ya, I’m thrilled with this pistol.

I had the OD green model. First time at the range it ran great with a couple hundred rounds through it. Second time to the range multiple failures like failure to feed, stove piping, then I noticed the slide had some damage where the slide stop engages the slide which caused the slide to not operate properly. I sent to Sig Sauer and they replaced the slide. I never fired it when I got it back, i traded it in on another pistol because i felt i couldn't trust it and it wasnt what i expected from Sig Sauer and to be honest i probably will not buy another Sig because of this experience.

I've heard the explanation of "train with what is like what you carry," but if a gun costs more than $300 and can't use cheap .22 LR, it's not giving that much of an advantage over other options. And really, semiautomatic handguns have so much in common that I doubt that there's all that much point to having something that exactly feels like the larger caliber pistol.

The magazine disconnect is easily removable. Simply remove the pin for the mainspring housing and once you remove the arched mainspring housing, the magazine disconnect is exposed on the side of the housing. Simply remove the little spring and metal piece that goes along with it (both are exposed on the side of the housing), and that is it. Just reinstall the mainspring housing and pin, and you are done.

Many people have feed and extraction issues ... it's the ammo. Cheap bulk ammodoesn't have enough pop to cycle the slide properly. I have the GSG 1911 in OD Green and use only good 22lr ammo like Mini Mags and Stinger perhaps. Stuff with good oooomph. I have troubles with almost all Aguila, Aguila is good ammo but I think the rim tolerance is thinner and the it gets jammed up or in many cases does not even grab the empty casing to even eject it.

For trying not to drop the hammer on an empty chamber, you do seem to do that a lot. Also, it is not advisable to drop the slide into battery from slide lock without chambering something like a snap cap. That action tends to ruin the sear - hammer surface, ruining your trigger pull.

@Viscous Shear no never had that problem. I know the race gun was designed to do that. I only bought the basic model and it works fine.
@alanwood73734 жыл бұрын
@Viscous Shear if you bought one the import always been very good with any problems that have arised. I took mine to the British shooting show had it serviced at a very low price, couldn't do enough to help. Scott the owner always had the policy any problems take it back and he's always sorted it. I've had number of firearms from new and second hand and have been looked after.

Double stack it in 22 mag and I’ll be all in.
@MoviesFreeGalore4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately. There aren't any double stacks which fucking sucks. Most you can do is get an extended baseplate adding 4 rounds to the magazine. That was the first thing I did when I bought it.

Could you put a full-size barrel and slide on this to make a full up 1911?
@sootch004 жыл бұрын
No, it would explode. It's made to only shoot 22 LR because of the Aluminum Alloy Slide plus the barrel wouldn't fit.

What kydex OWB holster (OD green) were you using when you reviewed the RIA .22 1911? Thank you, Sir.

Would love you see you review one of the many performance enhancing kits that are available for this (Tandemkross, ZR Tactical Solutions, etc) or even a full on Chet Whistle Accessories 1911 .22 racegun. 🤙

Gun is interesting, but that takedown is a pain in the ass, hard pass for me.
@sterling13954 жыл бұрын
Viscous Shear so you can take that screw out and the gun runs fine? I just picked one up and love the feel in hand. Can you run the single pin like a regular 1911? Or do you need both pins? Where is the mag safety? Was it that silver bar coming off the back of the barrel?

I initially bought one for plinking, never had any issue with it and was pretty accurate, traded it for a P22 just because I liked how small it was... Worst gun decision I've made :/...

Nice video but I’ve seen too many Sig Sauer Mosquitos in my day to buy a .22 from this company.
