Good video and very informative. During the last six months, I have purchased a P229 Legion SAO and a P220 Legion. I love the 15+1 round capacity of the 229 Legion SAO and enjoy shooting this pistol more than my Dan Wesson Valor (9mm / 4.25” Commander). Even though the P220 Legion only holds 8+1, one can get a 10 round magazine with extended base plate if he/she wants a larger capacity magazine for spare carry. I shoot the P220 Legion very well and I enjoy shooting this firearm as much as my Nighthawk Global Response Pistol (GRP) which is a Government size 1911. Some one argue that the 1911 has a better trigger; however, the Short Reset Trigger (SRT) makes the P220 an equally good shooter.

@Douglas Brown The P220 SAO Legion is a nice shooting firearm. I use the 10 round magazines with mine. For the reasons you mentioned, the P220 Legion SAO need to be considered if you're not a fan of the beaver tail safety of a 1911. The SRT is a plus also. Thanks for watching, greatly appreciate it!

Recently purchased the hard-to-find SAO Optic Ready 229 Legion on gunbroker. It only made sense considering it was similar in price to other 229 Legions including the DA/SA. I am excited about this SAO. I hope to shoot it soon. Great review!

That zip-zip ‘zipper’ noise you are hearing when you rack the slide is coming from the guide rod. I have both a 226 Legion, and then just recently got a 229 Legion. Was surprised that the 229 didnt seem quite as smooth when manually cycling as compare to the 226, which was smooth and silent. Figured out eventually that it was the guide rod, coming from rough machining on the guide rod. Sig says that as you shoot it, it will smooth out. I decided to just buy the Gray Guns custom guide rod, as they are very inexpensive. Installed, and now the 229 is silent and slick/smooth, like riding on ball bearings.

@Maveric Roy Before the striker fired craze DA/SA pistols were popular. It's kinda of a compromise between a revolver and a 1911. Some people like the DA/SA firearms because they really weren't comfortable with 1911s which are SA only and under a stressful situation they feared an accidental discharge. A DA/SA firearm can be a little bit more forgiving in a stressful situation because of the first pull being DA. (You still have to exercise your safety rules however)

@fearonebutone4977 Yes, I have. Nice carry size, similar to the Glock 19 that way. I'm used to single action only firearms and carry them appendix. If you're not comfortable carrying the SAO version, carry the DA/SA version. Both are compatible to carry, in my opinion.

Hey Keanon. I was able to obtain a rare P229 Legion SAO optic ready in all black. It was a limited offer for First Responders at a discounted price. I initially wanted a Staccato C2 but I just couldn’t part with that type of money even with the LEO discount so I opted for the Sig. It goes well with my P226 Tac Ops. The P229 is a sweet shooting firearm. Accurate and soft shooting. I know you own both, but if you had to chose one, which one would it be ? The P229 SAO or the Staccato C2 ? Great review as always.

@MaxFit 68 Omg tough one. I'd have to go with the Staccato C2 because I love the 1911 platform and the C2 doubles the rounds and is a great shooter. It's great you used your LEO discount and a great choice. I'm retired from LE so I'm not privy to the discounts anymore. 👍🇺🇸💥

I don't see a "Legion Gray" finish...I do however see a diarrhea green/ brown finish.Their promo pic looks like a light gray.How did they come out with this?

@Captain Zuesss Good question ... here's the answer. Originally the Legions came out with a grey like color. Owners complained that the finish didn't hold up, wearing real fast. Sig later used a cerikote finish for durability, problem is, it sometimes appears grey or have a greenish hue. I have both finishes and I prefer the original regardless of the issues. Hey Keanon, I’m a first time gun owner and went a little crazy and bought 3 guns because I was impatient and ignorant. I bought a Wilson p320 that I didn’t know would be bigger than I liked (bought online from local store). I then bought bought a 226 legion thinking it was a compact (229) then got it and realized it was full size too. I finally got the 229 legion a few weeks ago and it’s perfect in every way. My question to you is do you keep one in the chamber and cocked or…? I just realized this has a safety on it and might consider keeping it ready to go.

@Aaron V You made great choices on all three firearms (I have all 3 as well P320 but not Wilson Combat) I always keep a round in the chamber whether it's a striker fired firearm or a firearm that is made cocked and locked. I carry cocked and locked. Most importantly you have to be safe about doing it. 1) Have good holster that covers the trigger guard especially on the P320. 2) Use a good belt that is ridged and strong that it doesn't bend. 3) Always wear pants like jeans, never sweat pants or pants that don't have belt loops. 4) Train so you're comfortable with having a round in the chamber. Congrats on your firearms! 👍

@Winston Churchill Thought I did, probably because I have the same firearm in DA/SA. Sig now uses a cerikote finish that a lot of people aren't happy about, it appears greenish on some models instead of geey. Thanks for watching, greatly appreciate it!

@@UncleDanBand64 The catalog says grey but yes it's parkerized like finish. The originals had a grey finish that wasn't holding up, many complaints. So they changes to a parkerize type finish.
