John D. Ash, PhD and Kunal K. Dansingani, MBBS, MA, FRCOphth speak about Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Geographic Atrophy.
Dr. Ash joined the Department of Ophthalmology in 2022 as the E. Ronald Salvitti Professor of Ophthalmology Research, Vice-Chair, and Director of Research. He came to Pittsburgh from the University of Florida, where he was the Francis M. Bullard Eminent Scholar Chair in Ophthalmic Sciences since 2011. His research focuses on mechanisms of vision loss from inherited retinal degeneration and age-related macular degeneration.
Dr. Dansingani is an Associate Professor in the Retina and Vitreous Service at the UPMC Eye Center/Department of Ophthalmology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His research interests include ophthalmology and its reliance on different forms of technology, the necessity to unify themes relating to microsurgery, optics and vision, pathology and in vivo imaging, and the complementary roles of intraoperative depth-resolved imaging and robotic enhancements to microsurgery to expand scope and precision.
