Good video. I found that the sight that worked best on my rifle is the +1.5. Dead zero at 100 yards. The original sights on the m96 were calibrated for a 300 meter zero, so I was like you and shooting very high at 100 yards with the original front sight. On my first military rifle shoot, I had to compensate by holding a foot low on the target. I'm glad you talk about bullet performance on game too. The SST shoots very accurately in my rifle, but I wouldn't want to shoot a deer with one. I took my old rifle out last weekend and was shooting 1.5 moa for 5 shots, at 100 yards, with the irons and 140gr sierra's loaded with IMR4064. Great rifle and they sure are accurate.

I like Liberty Tree Collectors. They usually have a good amount of parts and accessories for Mil surp firearms on hand and they ship pretty fast.

Lotta bugs out there. Nine months of winter, and three months of skeeters. :)

All I shoot in my 1906 M96 is 4064 and 160 grain Hornady bullets. I also use Imperial 160 gr bullets but they are an obsolete Canadian made bullet. Thankfully I have about 300 of them for shooting (hunting) The old 96 has a long throat and was made to shoot 156 to 160 grain bullets. I love that gun. It has been sported with a Winter bolt knob, Timney trigger and a Low swing safety. I have a 3 to 9 Bushnell Elite 3200 for a scope on it. Love your channel.

Man the mosquitoes look horrible there. I had to watch the video over again because I was paying attention to your reactions as they were landing on your arm and sucking. Pretty bad year for them up here in BC as well. Early spring and summer this year.

Hey 'Looms, you need to shoot some black powder for a bit to thin out those 'skeeters...they look relentless!

The general preference with the Swede, especially with the heavier bullets, is the slower powders, and again, even more so when you have the full 29" barrel. Give IMR 4350 or 4831 a try or Alliant Reloader 19 or even 22. Then just get the charge right for the powder. Those SST's will fly straight.

Someone was saying the sites on the Model 96 are set for 300 meters not 100 meters. I do not know if this is true or not. I have two of them only fired a distance of 50 feet.

I will have to look at my M96 cut down into a M38 and see how tall the front sight is.

Not sure if this is relevant now , but might hep somebody in the future . Most including the Swedes’ sighted in their rifles at 300 yards . Not 50 or 100 ... Some Militaries sighted in their rifles with the bayonet on or extended .. hope this helps somebody in the future . Swedish rifles are some of the highest quality & accurate old military rifles you can purchase

Title of this video could have been “Sights on logcabinlooms”. The Skeeters had you in their sights. No way could I have sat there and done a video in that cloud of mosquitos. I was wishing I had a stop watch as a couple of those little buggers really got a big meal. I replaced the front sights on a couple of my guns and both times I regretted it.
