This is exactly the lens I was thinking of getting with an a6700. I feel that my current setup, Sony A7iii and 17-28 tamron is great, but I imagine an even lighter setup that would give me greater video capabilities with the a6700 would be more preferable.

I used to shoot with the a7iii, and now own the a6700 with the Sigma 10-18. I think it’s an upgrade on the a7iii both in terms of specs and the smaller form factor is an added bonus. Photos quality is excellent and video is a step up on the a6700 with the 10bit colour and and 4k 120 fps if you need to that. Go get it, you won’t regret it. I love it!

Great photos. I love Sigma😍 I use the Sigma 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens which is super sharp and perfect for gimbal work. How do you do your Floor plans? I'm thinking of using Cubicasa, but I'm not sure.🤔

I sketch my floor plans using a laser and then send them off to be drawn over night. I’ve not used cubicasa. I am bit wary how it measures in the storage space, wardrobes etc. A lot of people in the states use it, so I’m guessing it works well. Cost wise, it still works out cheaper for me to get my sketches drawn. I pay £3 per plan under 1000 Sq ft and then 0.003p per Sq ft charge over this amount. Cubicasa works out about £10 per plan I think. Not looked in a while, but I remember it didn’t really work for me cost wise. I’ll do a video on floor plans in the future. Thanks for watching.

how does this compare to the Sony 10-20mm F4? Which would be best for real estate photography and also for travel photography? Which has better image quality and color science? The does extra 2mm important on the Sony?
@jonathanshilton

I love not used the 10-20mm Sony lens, so I can’t really comment on this, although I hear it is very good and there’s plenty of videos on YT reviewing it. Either of these lenses would be fine for real estate and landscape photography as they give you a 15mm equivalent once you have added on the 1.5x crop of the APSC sensor. I think which ever if these two lenses you go for you won’t notice much difference and the extra 2mm isn’t a massive difference at the 18-20mm end. I would be more concerned if it was an extra 2mm at the widest point as I would want the wider lens for real estate. Thanks for watching!

Why did you choose this lens vs. Sony 11mm f1.8?
@jonathanshilton
@jonathanshilton 2 ай бұрын
I wanted a zoom lens. I like being able to crop in using the zoom when shooting rather than having to do it all in post. The 11mm is a great lens though. Thanks for watching.

Would this work on the Canon m50?
@jonathanshilton
@jonathanshilton 5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately not. Sigma only make this lens for Sony, Fuji and L Mount cameras, so it won’t fit the Canon system. I’m not sure if there are any adapters out there to get round this, although I see there is a Canon 10-20mm lens for APSC cameras on a lot of used markets. Not sure of the quality of this though. Good luck and thanks for watching and commenting!

Hey let me ask you something? You use the 11mm vs 10-18 more ( just video) Wich one is best value i only nee this for videos, is a big difference between 10 vs 11mm?
@jonathanshilton
@jonathanshilton 2 ай бұрын
I don’t think there is much difference in image quality between these lenses, having owned the both. They are both also small and lightweight. The obvious difference is that the 10-18mm is a zoom lens, so I d possibly go with that, just to allow a bit more options when shooting if you need to get a bit tighter in without losing any quality. Either way, they are both great lenses which ever you choose. Thanks for watching

I went with APSC a year ago, but with Fujifilm. The same reason of size, weight, and value. However, the Fujifilm system gives you of camera very good JPEG as an option too. Something to explore.

Thanks for the tip. I have been tempted by Fuji cameras as I’ve watched and read a lot of good stuff about the image quality and colours. I may treat myself to one further down the line. For now, I’ve got a lot of Sony equipment. Thanks for watching!

If you just want a smaller and lighter camera then why not the A7CII, or A7Cr? The latter can be used with APS-C lenses and will still have the same 26mp as the a6700, while allowing you to use your Sigma 14-24 at the full 61mp when the job demands it.
@jonathanshilton
@jonathanshilton 6 ай бұрын
That's a good suggestion and I have been tempted by the A7CII, however for the price of the body alone I can get a6700 and a lens, and be able to buy more afforable lenses for it in the future. The A7CR, while a fantasic camera, is a bit over kill for just shooting real estate as I do. 26MP is plenty for this use. Thanks for watching and I appreciate your suggestion.

Is this a fixed F-stop lense at 2.8,?? Wondering if you ever experience any shallower depth of field, or simply not a great sharp image because of the lower f-stop as opposed to shooting at an f-stop of 6-8 possibly even 11 for real estate ?
@jonathanshilton
@jonathanshilton 3 ай бұрын
No, it is not a fixed aperture at 2.8. The aperture ranges between f2.8-f22. I usually shoot at f8-f9 so the whole scene is in focus, but is wide enough to let in enough light when using my flash. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@randyk1919
@randyk1919 Ай бұрын
Yes, it's a fixed f/2.8 throughout the zoom range, when shot wide open (unlike typical kit zooms, for instance).. the previous person who answered misunderstood your question.

Hi Jonathan, my blended shots are typically quite dark, how to you expose the ambient shot?
@jonathanshilton
@jonathanshilton 6 ай бұрын
If I’m shooting Flambient, I usually expose the ambient shot so it is just staring to show the zebras on my screen inside the room. (I have zebras turned on at 95) It doesn’t matter if the windows are blown out for this shot, as the flash shot will have all the information you need for the windows. If I’m bracketing I shoot 3 shots, 2 stops apart. I now send all my editing off to be edited and they do a lot better job than I was doing. I have done a video about outsourcing your editing if you want to check that out. Something to consider. Thanks for watching! 🙂

do you use this lens with the zve1?
@jonathanshilton
@jonathanshilton 6 ай бұрын
I’ve not used it with the ZV E1, but it should work fine. I’ve used the Sony 11mm APSC lens and you just have to zoom it in 1.4x to get past the vignetting, or set it on dynamic stabilisation which gets past most of this too as it crops in. I’ve watched videos from Matti Haapoja, who used a similar APSC lens on a full frame camera and he was pretty amazed with it. There is a bit of quality loss, as you are cropping in to the sensor, but it’s still a decent resolution and allows a nice compact and lightweight setup. I’d say give it a go.

I’ve not used it for video yet, but I imagine it would be just fine as it is f2.8 so would be good in low light too. Thanks for watching!
