Good info, Yev! I just ordered mine yesterday for my EOS R and should have it next week. I'm wondering how it's going to work for taking some of the crop out of my 4K video. I saw a great KZbin vid on it capturing video of a vlogger and it seems to be a beast for giving you some extra room in tight spaces while shooting YT content. I have a small space and would like to shoot in 4K if I want to without having to move the camera too far back (even though the 1080p on the EOS R is great) and then, if need be, I can downscale it to 1080p and have all that bitrate to play with in post for editing. Your thoughts? What were your settings for that timelapse? Very nice!

I've used the crop 4K a decent amount of times on the 5D Mark IV, which is basically the same sensor. One trick I've learned for wider angles is to use APS-C lenses on your EOS-R/5D Mark IV. They are already meant for the crop sensor and will help you get a wider angle. With that said, this Sigma 14-24mm lens will also give a decently wide angle. If I'm not mistaking, your 14mm with 4K crop will be at an equivalent of roughly 24mm in full frame.

Brooklyn Skinny Pigs No, EF Mount APS C lenses have identical mounts as their full frame counterparts. So you won’t get at mechanical issues. But they will only benefit you when shooting 4K cropped mode. Otherwise you’ll see the black vignetting due to the smaller barrel size of APS-C lenses.
