Can I use this lens for like reviewing a product? Is it good enough? And how about for food photography like the in the coffeeshop?
@ConstantineSPhotography
@ConstantineSPhotography Жыл бұрын
For product or food photography, sometimes you might want more background blur, so I would recommend Sigma 30mm f1.4

Hey nice video I have a vlog where this lens get pretty crazy, what do you suggest to get the best result for stabilization? I have steadyshot option active
@ConstantineSPhotography
@ConstantineSPhotography Жыл бұрын
Thank you! If you are using this lens on a camera without stabilization, I would suggest using catalyst browse to stabilize the footage. This is wide enough, so a little bit of cropping still look pretty good.

@@ConstantineSPhotography Hey thx for replying. Why using Catalyst? I saw that for taking the advantage of it the camera should be set with Steadyshot off but mine was "on" so what can I do now, is it possible anyway? And another thing, Catalyst is better for stabilization than adobe premiere? Sorry but I would love to understand. Thank you for your time.
@ConstantineSPhotography
@ConstantineSPhotography Жыл бұрын
@@manueldeangelis161 By using Catalyst Browse you can choose how much you want to crop the video, and if you use active steadyshot on the camera, it would automatically crop in a lot. And yes I believe Catalyst Browse is better than the stabilization in adobe premiere because it's a dedicated Sony software stabilizing the footages using gyro data.

@@ConstantineSPhotographyhi thank you so much for your answers. So in the end I can use it for stabilization Catalyst and make video editing with the premiere? So Catalyst is just for optimization images for Sony products if I'm saying right, yes I have on my shooting clips steady shot actived because during the recording the capture was very caotic and unstable I thought to active it to compensate even if I have the stick for vlogging, do you suggest a stick for Sony ZV-E10? Thanks again Manuel

@ConstantineSPhotography Жыл бұрын
That is correct, you can stabilize the footage is in Catalyst Browse and edit in other softwares. Active steady shot is effective as well, the problem is it will make the framing more narrow. If you use a stick, I believe it will look more stable and easier to hold the camera.

Great lens, but I sold mine to get a Zeiss Batis 25mm f2, and I like that lens so much more because I find the 37mm equivalent much better for my work, and the lens has a character to it that feels “richer” than the Sigma. But that’s my taste. I just never enjoyed working with 16mm unless it was just shooting me doing talking head stuff, and for that, I can use any lens. I think this lens was actually TOO sharp for my taste, which sounds crazy, but I don’t know, of all my lenses, I liked this one the least. For wide shooting, I use my Samyang 12mm f2 and although it’s manual, I find it almost equal to the Sigma in sharpness, but with more character. But I enjoy working with manual focus so that is a thing, certainly, if you absolutely need autofocus, you wouldn’t like the Samyang. I’m thinking of picking up a 10-18 for wide work, since it’s stabilized and has a good range and a constant f4 is mostly fine for most scenarios. Anyway, great work as always. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your experience too. I understand what you mean by TOO sharp. I have a TTArtisan manual lens, which is obviously not as sharp as my other lenses, but it has a character as well. And I'm also considering the 10-18mm, actually I'm considering selling the Sigma 16mm, but it's a tough decision. I'm still debating...

@@ConstantineSPhotography I was happy once I finally sold it, and honestly, the only reason I held onto it was because everybody always looks at this lens as the greatest lens in the world. ;) I just never loved it. And so I knew it would bring me some decent money, and I'm much happier with what I have. I'm definitely gonna grab a 10-18 soon. Seems like a really great all around lens, at least for how I work.

Yeah there're so many great comments about this lens, and objectively, it really is a good lens, but sometimes I don't feel very inspired to take photos or videos with it. I think I'll eventually sell it, maybe within a month or two, I'm still trying to see what last things I can do with it before I actually sell it.

@@ConstantineSPhotography I never fell in love with it, like I have with the Sony 35mm f1.8 OSS, this Zeiss Batis, and believe it or not, I love working with the Sony 55-210, which I'm making a video about now. I guess we all have gear that resonates with us, and that's what makes art so great. That everyone is coming from their own unique perspective, and that's the beauty of sharing and watching what others share. All amazing and inspiring. Sell that Sigma, and find the lens that moves you. ;)

@@ConstantineSPhotography one more question , how do you use it for taking a group pic ? For vlogging for portrait I can just leave it at around f1.4 but for taking a family pic or group pic how will you suggest on the settings ?
@ConstantineSPhotography
@ConstantineSPhotography 2 жыл бұрын
For group picture, you want everyone to be in focus, so maybe set the aperture between 5.6-8. If the lighting is good, set the ISO as low as possible. And the shutter speed depends on whether you're on a tripod or not.
