As others have stated, we searched thru KZbin for a video such as this one. It wasn't easy! There are many such videos but all fall short in terms of what people are looking for. I have a podcast channel and was thinking about using a different lens that would fit my needs. Your video was exactly what I was looking for: there was measured distance, you put the lenses thru their use, and it was important for me to see how much background information would appear in the video. Thank you sir! Well done and thoroughly informational! You deserve more views.

2 meters with 30mm is my choice But most of us like the mic just on the top of the camera so 1 meter with 16mm is still hard to let go
@StuartRodwell3 жыл бұрын
Yes agreed - mic positioning does start to become a factor - keep toying with the idea of getting a Rode Wireless Go kit
@riazali43623 жыл бұрын
Hey Monica, i agree that is the best overall look. I would go with that lens, and invest in a mic stand to hover over your head at that distance for audio quality or just get a lav mic then your problems are solved. I invested in the 16mm as well, now I wish I bought the 30 instead, however, they both have their uses and it might be good to switch them up for different videos or within videos so its not a loss!

Hey Stuart, great video to understand the differences. What kind of lens should I use on the Sony ZV-E10 II for portrait shots? Use case: Vertical shots of me talking into a camera at my home desk, with heavy bokeh (extremely important)-for Instagram reels. Another detail-there is not a lot of space in the room. The desk is backed up to a wall. The distance to the wall is under 3 feet. Because there is a wall, and the camera is on a tripod slightly away from the wall, along with my face and torso with some headroom for any graphics over the head, I want the hands on the desk to be slightly visible. I like the bokeh in your video for 30mm but I'm not sure if that lens can cover my requirements mentioned above. For my use case, the 30mm seems too zoomed in as I'm not able to see your hands (I'm looking at it from a vertical video, Instagram reels POV, for KZbin it seems fine). Which lens (30mm or 16mm) would help me get at least your level of bokeh (Of the 30mm) if not more for the use case mentioned above?
