This video is exactly what I need. After all, f5.6 is still insufficient in the dark. The depth of field must be used skillfully, even if the focus is fast and quiet. I have selected s18-35/1.8 as an alternative, and want the photo quality, thank you for sharing
@red_visuals3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, f5.6 is bad for low light and the cool thing about the Sigma is that it doesn't change aperture when zooming in, so you can do that even while recording. And you're welcome 😉

Own both (got the 18-135 with my 90D) and this review is helpful for better contextual use. Great content. Thanks for the review!!! :D

How does it compare for vlogging, videography and B rolls?
@red_visuals3 жыл бұрын
For vlogging I definitely prefer the kit lens it is much lighter, but for B Roll the Sigma looks better.

The Sigma is definitely a great lens, feel free to ask any questions about it.

Great vid! Much appreciated. Bought a 90D recently and looking at getting the sigma to compliment the 18-135mm kit lens. This was helpful! Thanks

I had the sigma 18-35 but I had to return it. I use it mainly for photography but this lens have issues with autofocus if you are shooting thru the viewfinder...if you are using live view it works fine. Thats why many people did not notice this if they use the lens only for video. I believe sigma was not able to fix the issue via firmware thats why I dont recommend this lens if you use it for photography via viewfinder.
@red_visuals3 жыл бұрын
That's actually true, I did notice it missing focus when using the viewfinder sometimes, but yeah I almost always use it through live view for video.

Is is sharper than the 50mm canon lense?
@red_visuals2 жыл бұрын
The Sigma Lens? Definitely, yes. Even though, the 50mm is sharp and a prime, also better for portraits due to the compression, I still find the Sigma sharper, especially when it's wide open.
@gomotsegangmotlhajwa85362 жыл бұрын
@@red_visuals would you recommend sigma 18-35mm for portraits shots?
@red_visuals2 жыл бұрын
If all you're doing is portraits then a 50 1.8 would probably be better due to the focal length. But, if you want a better more general lens that can shoot portraits then definitely recommend the 18-35.
@gomotsegangmotlhajwa85362 жыл бұрын
@@red_visuals I already own the 50mm 1.8. I also use canon 18-135mm but it's not that sharp that's why I'm considering upgrading to the sigma 18-35mm
@red_visuals2 жыл бұрын
Oh, then it's a no brainer, get the Sigma. I did the same exact thing, I had the 18-135, got the 50mm, then the 18-35. You will love it, it's the sharpest lens I've ever used.

Unusual set up you have, in a good sense. I do have the 18-35 sigma, and per it to my canon eosm for Magic Lantern.

Is the sigma 18 35mm a good lens for a canon 90D and that lens can use as telephoto as well
@red_visuals3 жыл бұрын
The 18-35 is great for the 90D, not sure what you mean about the telephoto lens, it is a wide angle not a telephoto.

This lens is what makes me think of getting an APS-C camera instead of a full frame. Cost to benefit is hard to beat. But I am a sucker for bokehs, so a Full frame makes a difference there. A F.8 becomes a F2.8 on a crop also so =/
@red_visuals29 күн бұрын
I can relate haha, had the same dilemma ! But I wouldn't worry too much about bokeh on full-frame as the f/1.8 on crop sensor is still plenty IMO.

Which do you recommend. Sigma 18-35 or Sigma 24-70 for Canon 80D? Thanks
@red_visuals3 жыл бұрын
I personally think for the 80D the 18-35 is better, because of the f1.8 aperture since the 80D isn't great in lowlight.

i have a question, appreciated if anyone can help me... they say sigma 18-35 is an aps-c camera lens... is that mean for example on 18 millimeter focal length it gives us the same angle as canon 18-135 at 18 millimeter???!!
@red_visuals3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they're both the same focal length which is 28.8mm on an APS-C camera. You won't notice a difference between the 18-135 or the Sigma at 18mm

I've had the same question. And well, some of these efs lenses are cheaper than ef lenses 😪
@amiramirrtj93272 жыл бұрын
@@jordanmiranda8038 yeah, since nobody told me, so i experienced it myself.!!! Basically there is no difference on angle of view between ef-s and ef lenses on the aps-c camera, crop sensor. Some people just get others confused with crop factor multiplying 1.6 and compare with full frame bullshit. When i have the aps-c camera i don't wanna compare it with full frame, so i don't care how the lens act on full frame, I HAVE APS-C GOD DAMN IT. U can use both of them on aps-c... but u can't use ef-s on full frame cameras. U can use them of course but u will have a very heavy vignetting. And the other thing is, ef-s lenses are exists at very sepecific models, but in many cases we have only ef lens, like prime lenses. Mostly we have some weak or cheap zoom lenses on ef-s, like 18-55 or 18-135. The main differences between ef and ef-s is first build quality and second a very very little picture quality. On almsot same model zoom lenses i mean... i don't compare some cheap ef-s zoom lens with some high end prime lens here, make no mistake about that. For example between 18-135 and 24-105 f4 L with a lot of price difference, except build quality there is no huge noticeable picture quality difference. Just a very very very little more sharpness on 24-105. And mind that, 24-105 is not only ef lens, it also is typle L which is a Canon high quality line lenses. The main difference between these two is actually about their F. 24-105 has a continuous f.4 which can give you narrower depth of field and more blur background, and u can zoom in or out without automatically chang of aperture. And that's it. So overall.... it's not about difference between ef or ef-s. If u have a aps-c camera,...!!! just forget about that, and only think about what u wanna do with your camera and how u want to take photos and what is it u need, and which lens with which specifications can give that to you.👍
