The best detailed comparison I've ever seen between the Sigma and Sony 35mm 1.4. I will definitely get the Sony GM because of its sharpness and the green fringing on sigma. Thank you !

Wide open is where I want to shoot the 1.4 lens. No doubt after seeing half a dozen reviews, that the Sony has better contrast, is sharper across the whole frame, does better in close focusing. Also as noted the Sony is better with Sony bodies I have the A9 so this focus consistancy and speed and lock on matters. I also have the L mount SL2 Leica, but since its a way bigger camera, I just bought the Sigma F2 in L mount. Most fringing can be fixed but color , contrast especially and lock on and eye focus issues can ruin a shot and are harder to correct. The Bokeh is better with the 11 blade Sony, I like the smaller size on the smaller Sony bodies so when the prices come down I will get the GM it is worth the extra money.

Great review. When I bought the Sigma 30mm 1.4 for the Sony A6500. I realized what a great match the two are. Sigma has a color cast that to me matches perfectly with Sony’s biting colors. Owning the Sony 35mm 1.8 it’s hard to justify the upgrade. Going to use the force to fight the gear acquisition syndrome and focus on content. Great time to get into e-mount though.

I commented on a different old video I just take street photos I do take night photos do i go f1.4 or f2 The f2 is light and easy to carry but the f1.4 gets more light. Any advice?

So Sigma is moving away from the bazooka lenses now, I have the 85mm 1.4 DG DN very nice and love its size and weight. This 35mm looks good too.

I just got the A1 paired with 24 GM and shot backlit wide open and had a lot of chromatic aberration. Was able to correct the purple fringing in post, but the greens are still there. Going to have to test this a bit more. But I can't even remember having this issue with my Panasonic S pro lenses. Is this the compromise of small lenses? Or the use of aps-c mode? Because I hoped the aps-c mode would allow me to skip the 35mm with 50MP.
@TECH360TV3 жыл бұрын
Try shooting in full frame mode. Lumix S pro lens’s are very good so it could also be a Lens issue but the recent Sony lenses are very impressive

Lol cropping in doesn’t replace a lens. It’s just the same fov. Nothing else about the lens will be equivalent in terms of optics.

another good video, you'd rather work with a 24 or 35? what do you think? what's the best combo for you? fixed focal? thanks for your return

Thanks Roland. Personally I like 24 and a 50 combo but that’s just me.

@@TECH360TV There was a time when I went out with a 25/50/75 kit, using Zeiss ZM and Voigtlander primes. These days I'm more 21/35/50, but 24/25 is a great walkaround focal length.

Great review! This will find a home on one of my SL2S bodies. Love my 85 Sigma, tho the 75 APO is a beast so is the cost.

Yup. This will pair nice with my SL2. And yes the 75 SL APO is crazy. Only Leica lens I can afford. Hail to Sigma for an affordable alternative.

Why is everyone comparing the new Sigma with the GM Sony and not the Zeiss 35mm 1.4 from Sony which dropped in price and is now the direct contendor...?

@chesslover882920 күн бұрын
The Sigma now sells for $725; whereas, the Sony is still selling for $1,400. When sales tax is taken into consideration, the Sony is twice the price of the Sigma but only delivers image quality that may be three to five percent better than what the Sigma can produce under some circumstances and when we engage in pixel peeping. Moreover, four different professional photographers on KZbin could not tell the difference between images of the same subject matter produced by both lenses. So, as an amateur photographer who uses a Sony a7R IIIa with only a 42-megapixel sensor, Sigma is the clear winner for me at a $700 savings.

Not very convinced after watching Gerald's video. Then again for 500 bucks less it's pretty nice

For the 500 dollar savings if you find the image quality to your liking then it’s worth it.

I have realised that the Sigma’s 35mm have notable chromatic aberrations of cyan and amber colour fringing when In close focusing distance. It is due to the size of the lens and the performance of close distance focusing. ~ Gerald Undone

Too big .. too heavy. but it's cheap though. this new sigma .. reminds me of the old 35 ZA that i had for years.. and the reason why i sell it and go for the GM is because GM is just better in every ways..
