The song is a reference to the fact that in the USSR, when something extraordinary bad happened, usually the death of a general secretary (leader), Swan Lake was broadcasted on all TV channels before any news about what actually happened were revealed to the public. It was also broadcasted on all channels for three days straight during the collapse of the Soviet Union. So, for people who lived in the USSR, Swan Lake associates with "Something bad happened, but i don't know what exactly" which is pretty much the atmosphere of the whole game.

What if I told you that ALL the androids are named after birds? Falke = Falcon Adler = Eagle Kolibri = Hummingbird Storch = well, Storch, as well Star = Starling Mynah = Myna (another starling) Elster = Magpie Eule = Owl Ara = Ara (A type of Macaw)

I'm so sorry !!! 😭 When Microsoft took it out of the gamepass I no longer had a way to make the clip to be able to do the video loop, but now that I have a job and the power of money I will continue where it is I left off, this is a promise!!! If Elster is Siegfried (the revolver is Benno), Ariane is Odette, and Falke is Rothbart / Odile then not dealing Falke at the end (artifact) would be them actually "breaking the curse" and surviving. I don't think the tone of the ending fits this interpretation but it's fun to think about lol

​@@florahowtobecomeanelevator2530 If Swan Lake is a kind of _gestalt_ for Signalis, this kind of simplistic interpretation is questionable. Identities are too mixed and confused in Signalis to really make one to one mappings to SL (obviously in some sense ofc). For example, Falke can't really be construed as Rothbard nor Odile except pretty superficially or maybe partially (Falke is also partially Siegfried bc she adopts Elster's memories as hers.). Also I don't remember what I was thinking when I made that comment but usually in order to break the curse, Siegfried has to defeat Rothbard and then you get either a tragic ending or a good ending. So even if Falke corresponds to Rothbard, I currently couldn't give the artifact ending any interpretation based on SL. That could be meta since replikas aren't perfect copies but it's a bit of a stretch. The only thing I'm confident about is that the revolver is Benno. Both are good, reliable friends lol

Before anyone trys to say "hopeful tones of the ending don't fits this interpretation"; its important to remember, as a friendly, gentile reminder: that the story of Signalis is one that walks in the Footsteps of the King in Yellow stories in general, which are not just horror story's but also love story's and love stories wearing the trappings of horror... and when it comes to Artifact ending, the KIY story in particular known as "The Mask"; which is a love story that wears the trappings of horror and ends on an outright miraculous happy ending
