SIGNALIS is set in a dystopian future where humanity has colonized the solar system, and the totalitarian regime of Eusan maintains an iron grip through aggressive surveillance and propaganda. Humanoid androids known as Replikas live among the populace, acting as workers, civil servants, and Protektors alongside the citizens they are designed to resemble.
The story of SIGNALIS begins as a Replika named Elster awakens from cryostasis in a wrecked vessel. Now stranded on a cold planet, she sets out on a journey into depths unknown.

How can you say that with a straight face. None of the games events actually happened naturally. Its all a dream that really happened. None of the characters are originals and none of them have their original feelings either. And nothing good ever happens. The good ending is lockin yourself in a hellscape with your girlfriend for all eternity while copies of yourself attempt to break in and kill her.

Came here cuz the gameplay sorta fell apart for me. Made it all the way to about 45 minutes to the end and just didn't enjoy the lack of map and terrible lack of inventory space. Great game it just really suffered from tedium there at the end.

I believe they added an option for an unlimited inventory in the options menu. Should fix your problem

Interesting. I had no issue with it, since I would just carry one weapon with no reloads most of the time and only a heal if I happened to have any. I spent most of my time avoiding fights, and once you learn to kite the enemies, it gets quite easy. If you know you need to break through a tough room, bring a stun rod or a shotgun, and otherwise a weapon is mostly used to push enemies away when they get close. Also, you have a map in the last zone. You may have gotten 45 minutes away from the fake ending partway into the game. I recommend you set inventory setting to expanded and try to play the game with a piece of paper there to draw your own map. Its a shame to get too used to video games doing the job for you ;)

Gotta agree, I just also dropped the game about half an hour before I would probably reach the final boss fight because I do really enjoy the game EXCEPT for the whole gameplay design. I find the combat to be way to clunky, the inventory restrictions very tedious and the whole map philosophy where you are supposed to find 6 cards, find 6 shards, find 6 keys find this find that, yeah wasn't really fun anymore . Also for a stealth focused game there isn't even an option to sneak or stealth kill an enemies so you rather just awkwardly walk past them lmfao so I just searched for a video that showed me the ending because I am interested in how the story concludes but not interested at all to actually continue playing. Still aside from that a fantastic game. Wish we had more 3D sequences because I really love the artstyle of the game and I would have wished to find out more on the Eusan Nation

@@robinstheles for real. I could put up with everything up until they took the map. I was like ehhhhhhh I'm not going to hump away at the air here. That's what it felt like too for what I did play after they took the map. I think they did it for dumb reasons too. It feels like they took it to somehow elongate the rest of the game.

The game was interesting but massively overrated. The story is a mess, the combat is terrible and the inventory system is a joke. You are basically only allowed to carry 4 items, as you have to have a weapon and the flashlight in your inventory at all times. I swear I must have visited the item box 100+ times during my play through, just storing crap in effort to keep my inventory spaces free. You can’t even keep additional ammo on hand because of how valuable the inventory slots are, so I tanked through a lot of the areas and would reload my save when I got hit too many times. The game would’ve been a lot better if there were no monsters and had more emphasis on puzzles.

Skill issue. First off, the flashlight is a late game item that you only need for a few rooms and puzzles, it is not a required item. there’s only two instances per loop where you absolutely NEED to have guns on you. Your inventory is a puzzle, it’s a classic survival horror mechanic to have very tight and restrictive inventory management. The enemies themselves are a puzzle, and are the primary obstacle of the game. Have you played Resident Evil? This game is a love letter to the original 3 games. You’re not supposed to kill every enemy, you should fight when necessary since ammo is so scarce. This is a SURVIVAL horror game. Not a twin stick shooter. Maybe since you always had the flashlight on you didn’t realize that you could sneak past enemies in most scenarios. The flashlight draws their attention because of the bright light. Did you know you can burn corpses to get rid of them? If you didn’t understand the story, you didn’t read enough item descriptions, it’s extremely straightforward and only a handful of things are left open to interpretation (most art pieces do). Maybe this genre just isn’t for you, but saying the game is bad because you fundamentally misunderstood the mechanics and purpose of the game is really stupid. You either tried to speedrun on your first go, or you’re media illiterate.

@@Automata_Eve It’s not a skill issue it’s flaws in the design of the game. You literally need the flashlight to open some doors / to see where you are even going in some areas of the game. I said that I tanked through many areas (aka ran past enemies), but you are accusing me of not managing resources appropriately. I had adequate ammo by the end of the game, due to I have played survival horror games and know that you cannot kill everything and save powerful ammo types for bosses. If you will look at the reception for the game online, many share critiques similar to what I have wrote in my post. This game is the equivalent of when you ask Mom to buy Resident Evil and she tells you that you have Resident Evil at home. Again the game is not bad and even has an interesting setting / puzzles, but it is OVERRATED by the anyone that is calling it remotely a good game. An indie game that is a true love letter to classic survival horror would be something like Tormented Souls.

@@nightinxgale7083 I said that it’s only used for specific rooms and puzzles. If you find out you need it, come back later. I didn’t carry it at all times and I didn’t need to. The map marks rooms that are too dark to see with a different texture, so you’ll know when you can’t internet with objects in there without it, these rooms are extremely uncommon. I got the most use out of it in the wire mazes. Is your brightness so low that you can’t see anything? Most of the game is extremely well lit, even on normal brightness. the areas where you “tanked through” is where you were supposed to use ammo. The fact that you had a bunch of ammo by the end of the game is kinda telling that you didn’t utilize resources properly. I for example used the revolver or pistol to pick off weak enemies when rooms were a little cramped, I used the shotgun for crowds and tougher enemies, I used the grenade launcher for groups of tough enemies (particularly useful in the serpent ring room, which happens to be a dark room). Everything has a use case, and optimization is key, something you clearly avoided. This game is better than most games out there, and I feel you fundamentally misunderstand what this game is. Maybe the game just isn’t for you, but saying that it isn’t good because you aren’t good at managing your inventory or solving environmental and enemy based puzzles is really silly.

​@@nightinxgale7083I'll admit the story is complex but that isnt inheritly bad, I mean it's more interesting as you have to look into it yourself which can give more replay value to the game and let you indulge in its world more IF you want to. The inventory system for one was updated so you can play with more space but even the classic system I found really manageable. They design the levels around backtracking and storing things in the box, hence the idea of killing things that are necessary as they will swipe at you every time you run back and forth to the item box. The combat isnt ridiculously in depth but it serves its purpose. The main focus of the game is its story and world building along with its unique art style, and I think it accomplishes that very well.

​@@nightinxgale7083While I do agree one extra inventory slot would have probably been better, you do know the flashlight doesn't count as a slot right? That draws the rest of your criticisms into question... personally I never felt frustrated by any of the things you mentioned. Its ok if a games story requires some interpretation.
