Signalling, with the VF17 and the NATO Signalling Panels

I have carried and used the VF17 Panel during my military enlistment, and since getting out. I have recently discovered the NATO Issued Panel Marker. It's made of newer materials, in a vinyl. But use orange and yellow HI VIS colours, while the US VF17 Panel uses Orange and Purple HI VIS Colours.
This video is a presentation, and some information of their uses. And the possibility of carrying a smaller version for personal use.

I'm surprised that the NATO one weighs a kilo, wow! I have a VS17 I got somewhere online, and keep it with me when canoe camping. If it is overcast, my mirror won't work, etc... so good to have it just in case, and also as a way marker. Cheers from Toronto!

I wonder if the different colors depend's on the time of year when you are i woodland environments.. it's very useful for sure, I had a friends family member pass away because he left his vehicle in winter conditions, while in the woods a few years back. Great advice and something I have never thought about.

The coulours depend on communication. ie. Commo line decides this. Also weather could decide. But more than often it’s ID to help determine friend foe.
