So the unit step function itself is neither even nor odd function because it does not meet both of the conditions for even and odd function definitions, but it is a sum of one even and one odd function. Is that correct? From here can we say a signal does not have to be even or odd function, it can be neither of them?

is even part of u(t) not = (1+1)/2 = 1???
@biswadeepchakraborty24603 жыл бұрын
yes that is also my question...at t=0 both u(t)and u(-t) have a value 1 so the resultant should be 1+1=2..but by gibbs phenomenon it would be (1+1)/2=1
@himanshumishrabadal68063 жыл бұрын
actually u(-t) will be zero... , so Ue(t)=1/2
@vivekiyer94822 жыл бұрын
@@himanshumishrabadal6806 No I guess Because u(-t) is just reflection of u(t) like a mirror image so at t=0 it's 1 at u(-t) then it upto - infinity it remains 1 only 0 to - infinity is remain 1 only. Which I feel.
