Dear Courtney, I'm Jan, a subscriber from Catalonia. For the last two years I've been learning asl on and off, learning vocabulary, signing songs and trying to unserstand sentence structure and deaf culture. But it hasn't been easy for me, since my maternal language is catalan, then spanish and finally english, wich I learned when I lived in the United kingdom. On the other hand, I'm learning asl and also mandarin, so I sometimes mix up everything. Fortunately I found your channel while learning the basics of asl and have been subscribed ever since. I was a little confused for the amount of information at first, but as I got the hang of it I started learning a lot, so much that I doubled my asl knowledge at that time. For this reason I'd like to thank you, because you touch every single aspect of asl, from sentence structure to vocabulary, going through songs, classifiers,culture and many more. I want you to know that I really enjoy learning this language and that I truly appreciate your effort in making these videos, because at the end of the day we all should be able to communicate without having barriers between us. I personally think that we all deserve the same rights and treatment and that we should be accepted and not descriminated wether we are deaf, hearing, black, white, homosexual, bisexual, transgender, muslim, jewish or christian...And when I'm older I would like to live in a world without the labels I've just mentioned and say: "My generation did this! :)". Again, thank you very much, I hope that you keep on working with this channel and that more people get to know it. Greetings, Jan

Thank you for your comment, Jan. It's wonderful that see the people God brings to this channel and I'm so thankful that I'm able to make a difference in this way. Don't our hearts long for that peace? The Bible tells us that here on earth we will have trouble, that things will just keep getting worse, but not to be afraid because God has already overcome the world. (1John 4:4 roughly paraphrased). I love this verse because I'm reminded that there will be a day when we will all get along and love each other and be able to freely communicate. That day will be in heaven if we have a relationship with Jesus. The Bible tells us that this earth is just a knockoff copy of Heaven in its current state and that everything we have here that is good is from God and that heaven will have all of God's goodness untouched by sin. I pray that you get to know Jesus so you can have this same awesome hope that I have. Have you ever ready my story? Look at www.signwithcourtney.wordpress.com and read

"The Story of Courtney". You'll be able to see why I care so much and why I decided to follow Jesus and how much that made me the person I am today. Blessings, Jan!!!

I would like to ask: “signing without facial expression is like speaking in a monotone, is it true?
@SignWithCourtney2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely and it’s also part of the grammar so the sentence doesn’t make sense. We also raise our voice to ask a question so it’d be like that. Or like the “let’s eat grandma” sentence without punctuation or with.
